As a history teacher, I love history museums. I am also a proud South Carolinian and Southerner. The Confederate Museum is interesting to visit and has some unique artifacts. For a history or Civil War buff, it is really, really cool. I would say that its portrayal of Wade Hampton is a little generous, a more accurate view is on... More

I took my Dad there because he is into Civil War History. You could spend hours there viewing all the artifacts and books. Very well organized and helpful staff.

This museum is staffed by people that want to share the Confederate perspective. The South has generally been demonized in public schools and mainstream media. These people were not Nazis, they wanted to remain truer to the spirit and letter of the US Constitution than the Washington government. Plan half a day.

Don't confuse the size of this building with the quantity of what's inside. Located in a converted house, driving by would give the impression there's not much too it. But every inch of every wall of every room is packed with everything from guns to photos. They have numerous unusual artifacts that you wouldn't even notice or understand if the... More

Said in reviews before I'm a big history buff, and a Civil War buff so guaranteed I was going to see this place while taking my 1st trip to Greenville. You will be hard pressed to find a more comprehensive collection of Civil War items than what they have here...Can't begin to say enough how knowledgeable and friendly the staff... More

We tried to go here on a Sunday morning. All info we had said the museum opened at 20 am, but when our Uber driver dropped us off, we found out that it didn't open till 1 pm. We will have to save this for our next trip to Greenville.

In addition to the thousands of artifacts, photos and weapons, this museum has an extensive library with tens of thousands of books and archives about South Carolina's Civil War soldiers. I met the director - Mr. Mike Couch who took just seconds to help me look up records of my ancestors Confederate service. He knew exactly which volume to look... More

My husband and I toured around this old house and were able to learn a lot about the Confederate soldiers. We saw several different weapons they used, the different clothing they wore, and how they were able to survive during various weather!! This is a very small space, but well worth the stop!

Very nice place located in downtown Greenville. As a local to the area, I decided to stop by here a while back and take a look. Lots of items that you don't see on the cable tv specials, and very knowledgeable staff. This is a "must stop" if you are in the area.

The museum is astonishing. It has collectible items on view and a young gentleman showed us the works. Fun for all history lovers !
