One of my favorite places to go walk and enjoy nature. Views of the marshland are stunning and wildlife is all around. House is not open to view but the property is worth the drive!

We went to see the gators. We saw none. We saw some fiddler crabs, 3 birds, and a bumblebee. The reserve is 2-3 miles off the paved road. Nice hike.

Hgad a great time exploring here! I do suggest the dike trail. We didn't go all the way through we took the part that cuts through the center. We saw so much wildlife in their natural habitat. Including alligators, a bald egal, and plenty of...More

Don't miss this remarkable natural treasure, which is not widely publicised in tourist advisories. The nearly two million acres of mostly undeveloped wetlands which was a former rice growing region, includes approx. 250,000 acres donated to the ACE Conservation project. The region has several ecosystems...More

The plantation home is very interesting, and the grounds are beautiful. You can see the remains of authentic rice gates in one of the ponds on the property close to the house.

Went over the weekend after a severe storm. There was some freshly downed large limbs and a tree. However the trail was mostly well kept, low lying areas were bridged and well maintained. I think there is alot of potential for this location. One group...More

We went there with our three children (10, 10 and 13) and additional family from France. It was a Saturday so the facilities were closed but we wholeheartedly enjoyed the scenery with the live oaks, the plantation and the old rice fields. We saw some...More

Wow! If you want a break from all the shopping and tourism in Charleston, drive the half-hour out to the ACE Basin. Kids and adults who appreciate the outdoors, nature and the stunning beauty of the Lowcountry will love it.

Gorgeous place to visit via kayak. Would love to explore hiking trails. Lots of birds here, and if you are quiet you can hear the wind in the grass.
