... when you take the time to wander! We were visiting the area for my nephew's Marine Corp boot camp graduation, and decided to sneak away for an afternoon of exploring. We drove by this store once, and decided to turn around and check it out. The owners and their awesome welcoming committee-of-one, Blue, greeted us warmly and spent some... More

We saw previous reviews and decided to check it out. The couple running the store were welcoming and friendly. Their dog, Blue was present and very lovely. The store had some nice local artist wares. It was eclectic and may appeal to those looking for souvenirs from the area. We did not eat at the Blue Dog Cafe, so I... More

Cluttered and full of souvenir merchandise, this impromptu stop on our trip left a bit to be desired. The cafe in the rear of the store looked cute, though.

Stopped at the Lowcountry Store after reading about their gumbo, and we were not disappointed! Such an interesting store with local arts and crafts, canned goods, and a variety of unique items to the lowcountry. We each had the gumbo special which included a biscuit. As others have described, the owners use their own recipes and they clearly know how... More

Hard to believe that a store would have such a delightful cafe in the back, but it does. It serves a fantastic shrimp/sausage gumbo that is some of the best I have ever eaten. It was full of cajun sausages and shrimp which was pretty spicy, yet the tomato base to the gumbo was sweet. They also serve a tomato... More

Great store to stop by and poke around in. Lots of art, souvenirs, and other local favorites. Rear has a small cafe for some local treats from sweet to savory. Great for a small lunch or snack. Also has a selection of local lowcountry food, like deep fried peanuts and sweet potato butter! Yum!

The store has an interesting collection of art native to the area. The staff at the store are extremely helpful and will answer any questions you have about the art or other places of interest in the area. The store is rather small so if you are expecting a wide variety to choose from, you will be disappointed.

No trip to the beach is complete without at least one stop at the Lowcountry Store! It is packed with beautiful local artistic goods, local produce, and tasty treats. Years ago the owner talked me into trying the local honey as a sure fire cure for pollen allergies. I didn't believe it until I tried it. It works and it's... More

The Gumbo was hot, filled with andouille sausage and fresh shrimp, lots of okra and a southern biscuit. The tomato pie was also excellent.
