A very interesting visit with a helpful and informative guide. Grew our understanding of Native American culture and an excellent entree to our visit to South Dakota.

This is such an interesting site to see. The director talked about the living conditions of the Native American inhabitants in great detail - walking us through a mock-up of a lodge. She also spoke in depth about the way the inhabitants used all parts...More

Thank you for your kind review! It's not often that I guide tours but I sure enjoy doing it. Please return someday when the dig is on!

Very interesting display of Native American artifacts from 1,000 year ago. The small museum gives a good idea of life was like, including a recreation of the inside of a house. The covered archeological dig was welcome on the cold wet day I visited. The...More

Thank you for your review - we are quite proud of our site and how we present life on the Northern Plains 1,000 years ago. We are sorry that our guide left you unimpressed - we will address that so it does happen again.

Wow, did we enjoy our visit here. The visitor center has a realistic life-sized Mandan lodge, many ancient artifacts and other excellent displays. The archeology dig itself is enclosed in a separate large building with wrap-around observation decks. There was no one working on the...More

Thank you for the kind review. The village is, thankfully, on dry land. The farm plots the villagers worked are now underwater in the reservoir.

Thank you so very much! We agree, we are a great place to let the kids run of some of that energy they have accumulated while sitting in the car! And, our guided tours are great!

We were the first to arrive and were given a supervised tour of the artifacts that were inside the building. The boys loved to ask questions and show off their knowledge to the employee. We then went and observed the archeological dig, followed by the...More
