The Cultural Heritage Center is a great place to spend 1 - 3 hours depending on your interests and available time. The price is definitely right -- a bargain for such good exhibits on the inhabitants and history of South Dakota.

Comprehensive selection of artefacts representing the development of Pierre, covering first contacts with Native Americans, founding of the town by Pierre Chouteau, coming of the railway, Statehood and 20th Century developments. A fabulous way to understand the evolution of a nice small American town.

Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. Resources are outstanding at this center. I was able to get the information I was looking for and make copies at a reasonable charge.

Thank you very much for visiting the South Dakota State Archives. Best wishes for your project. Please come again and visit the museum while you are here.

This Center went into great detail about South Dakota's history and people, without all of the generic facts (dinosaurs, for example) that may pop up. It took several hours to see it completely, but was well worth it.

As you drive up to the center you think two things, wow it is built into the hillside, and it doesn't look very big. However, it is a lot bigger inside than you think. This place is so much worth the very small entrance fee...More

Would have enjoyed visiting this unique Cultural Heritage Center if our visit hadn’t been on Easter Sunday. The facility was closed for the holiday.
