We stopped at wounded Knee after visiting friends in Oglala the night before. On the way to Interior we stopped in the early morning to pay our respects. No, the site is not a shiny well tended monument like many expect or hope. Maybe given...More

Interested in the history, but intimidated by the venders and their children who started approaching our vehicle before we had even stopped. We put it in reverse, without getting out. Long drive. Not much to see. Could be better presented and managed.

Our church comes to Wounded knee each summer as a mission trip bringing about 30 people. We have our devotions there on our last night. It is so sad to see beautiful people in such a harsh condition. We have met a few at the...More

I have read so many of the negative reviews. What I read, speaks to people imposing their own values upon the Lakota people. Also, some of the "negative" behaviour is behaviour that is learned through created dependency by the US government and warranted mistrust of...More

This is a real reservation. One of the poorest. See the vendors, here the stories. No it's not a "pretty" place. However, it is real. See the vendors help support them. Yes you may run into pan handlers, but you dont have to feel threatened....More

Sorry, I have no idea since we had a rented car. There are long-distance buses, with departure from the downtown area, and google gives that information.
