This is really a wondereful thing to do with kids especially if your children are into trains. Little like this anywhere in the U.S.

We took my elderly parents here and even they were bored! The train went in the woods, down a little ways very slowly, then backed back to the station. We couldn't see any sights! My parents visited from Wisconsin and were very disappointed. They wanted to see some of Tennessee or Chattanooga. This was called the local so we thought... More

This was super fun and cozy. Lots of details. Conductor and commentator wore uniforms from 1940s era style. Train ride was informative, local, 2 quick trips, one to a service yard, walk around looking at old steam engines, watch the engine be turned around on a turn table, ride back to the depot.

Nice little excursion with some history thrown in. Very cool experience if you haven't ridden trains. Be warned, though, this trip is very used by families with small kids. Seats facing each other are not so neat. But train personnel are terrific. Neat history in an hour. Give this one a try

I went to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum to ride the Summerville Steam Train and had a wonderful experience. I use that word intentionally because it was much more than a ride on an old time train. The equipment is maintained in excellent condition, no signs saying 'please don't touch this because it is old and easily damaged' which I... More

If you have kids like love trains this is the place to go. It is a 30 minutes each way that will take you through a tunnel inside the mountain to the Depot and the shop were trains are serviced and stored. They will show you how the turn table works and take you back to the train station. After... More

So the train was cool. The philosophy was cool. The people in the costumes /staff were delightful. I guess it was hard to get into because I was expecting more lights along the path. It's really just a short train ride that turns right around and comes back.

We stopped for a quick overnight trip in Chatanooga with our railroad obsessed kids! This was a must for our family! We did the short train trip to the turntable and machine shop. We enjoyed the ride and viewing the trains on display.

Very fun train ride. interesting history explained of the railroad and how they take care of the trains. Wish they had more rail cars you go inside of to look at but overall a lot of fun.

We had to take a train ride while in Chattanooga. This area according to our tour guide was a major credit to keeping the passenger trains in motion! This trip was a unique experience and worth it! It's very comfortable and not too time consuming. Lots of history and a locomotive turn table event to watch. Enjoyed it!
