Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This walk is not for the faint hearted or for anyone with mobility issues. To reach the top and be rewarded with stunning views of the local area, you undergo a serious workout but happily without an entrance charge. The flora in May was set into a backdrop of gorgeous purple heather and yellow broom. A less demanding return walk is possible if you continue through at little iron gate behind the castle - the slope is kinder on the knees. Back in the village you can choose from several restaurants to enjoy a well earned drink and snack.

Plenty of places to eat and drink and some great views. A interesting Church was in the centre of the village. Easy to free park.

Firstly, you should know this involves a bit of a trek, it stands at 1025 meters above sea level at the top of a hill with some rudimentary accessibility. I did the hike up alone, very carefully, and it is a gorgeous view. I was a bit unsure on the way up, but it is definitely worth the hike. The story and view from this castle is a must visit!!

P.S. young children should not partake on this hike, some parts of it may be a tad bit dangerous!!

Not climbing to the Castle in Castro Laboreiro is like going to Rome and not being the Pope B-)
Some of the "guiding" posts have being vandalised , but the path is obvious...
The view from up there is 360º superb!!!

the castle as such wasn't too impressive but the drive from Melgaco on the small M1138 to Castro Laboreiro and then from there on crossing briefly into Spain is breath taking ….worth taking this drive but careful it is a very narrow road but hardly traffic on ...

There seem to be just the remains of what apparently was a important building long ago, but the location is quite attractive, especially because it´s one of these places off the beaten track that give you the impression of being out of this world, surrounded by an imposing silence and solitude. This tiny village, with its austere church and squared presided by its pelourinho (old stone column with a cross) has its charming touch too, its slow rhythm provides the visitor with a great feeling of relax and quietude.

A nice climb to the Castle ruins with spetacular views. Very interesting for Children but you must avoid to climb with too much sun because there are no trees and in the summer is very hot.

Location with amazing landscape. Super recommended for those staying overnight in the area. ⁇
Only do not recommend the accommodation of Miradouro do Castelo which is right next to this tourist spot ❌️
