We wanted to learn more about James Polk and this is really the only site. Nothing like jackson's hermitage but quite nice. Our tour guide was interesting and spoke to us individual to make sure we enjoyed the tour. Polk definitely deserves to be better known.

We hesitated to purchased ticket to Mule Days brunch due price but two staff members assured that it was a good value and a fund raiser. After entered we entered the event, we were limited two drinks and could enter the historic residence. We have travel extensively and have never left a negative review until now.

You can learn for your self why President Polk is the most underrated President in US history. What do the US Postal service, basketball, Tom Thumb, and the Northwest have in common? You will have to come visit to find out about this remarkable man and his wife and how they influenced US history!

The Polk House is a professional if rather modest historic site. It has a TV screen orientation program and a rather pedestrian but decent museum exhibit. So, the facilities are fine and about what you would expect for a privately run historic house museum. But what elevated our experience was the five-star tour of the house. Our guide was knowledgeable... More

THIS house/museum is PERFECT. I will go ahead and say that this is easily one of the nicest Presidential sites we have ever visited. The staff obviously cares about the legacy of James K. Polk and his wife Sarah. We had an excellent tour guide named Zack. He let us know that the Ancestral Home has an amazing collection. He... More

I been trying to visit to as many Presidential sites as I can. I enjoyed coming to visit the James K. Polk ancestral home in Columbia, Tennessee. Nice early home much larger on the inside than it looks from outside. The house contains the personal furnishings of James K. Polk and his wife Sarah Childress Polk, the furniture which is... More

My family came to visit. They love history and were sooo thrilled to step into the past and even into the steps that past President Polk walked! Thanks for conserving this piece of history Columbia!

Always enjoy learning about our history. Prior to this trip I had no idea he was so successful in his stated goals. We're so lucky that people have saved these types of structures for us and the future.
