Not the largest art gallery I have ever been in but certainly one of the most pleasant! The lady who greeted us in reception was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very welcoming. I really loved the section of paintings of the deep south. Thank you.

This museum has a very nice permanent collection of pieces from East Tennessee artists, as well as several travelling or temporary installations. We enjoyed the variety of pieces and styles. The art glass installation was especially interesting, as well as several of the sculptures. We've been to much larger museums with more impressive collections, but this was a great way... More

This “new” building is modern and purpose built, replacing the old mansion in which the museum was originally located. There are several floors, both permanent and traveling exhibits, several lovely balconies and patios in which to sit, and an interesting museum store. There is nothing outrageous or shocking or startlingly innovative, just a functional, well-designed space with many events, well... More

We've only visited the Museum once, earlier today, en route from New England to San Antonio. It is our practice to choose our routing as travel around America to include visits to art museums in small to middling cities. This trip, for instance, we'll visit museums in the Shenandoah Valley, Knoxville, Birmingham, AL, and Shreveport, LA. This Knoxville Museum of... More

Beautiful,clean,well-staffed museum with a great admission price- free. How can you beat that ? Some truly incredible pieces along with a very nice exhibit of local artists- past and present. Highly recommended.

I am a pilot, traveling quite extensively, and I make it a point to visit a city's museum when I am in town. The Museum of Art in Knoxville was absolutely fantastic. It was great to see the talent of Tennessee Artists from the early 1900's on display on the ongoing display "Higher Ground" and the "Romantic Spirits" display was... More

Not a huge museum but quite a variety of art. Plan on about an hour to see the exhibits. Parking is across the street. Though the museum is small, it's a must see and it's free!
