Loved it

This museum was great. I absolutely loved the work of children from the local schools. Each exhibit was admirable. Totally worth a visit especially since it's free.

The Knoxville Museum of Art offers free admission to it's visitors as they are greeting by some of the best visual art in the region and nation. I get here a few times a year, I love it. They truely have a great little museum. If you're close it's no doubt worth the visit.

Conveniently just off I40 in downtown Knoxville this museum is well worth the visit. Large parking lot adjacent is never completely full and you're inside in a minute. Upstairs I love the "Higher Ground" permanent collection but don't miss the amazing and somewhat visually disturbing silicon statue called Evan in the modern room. Museum is small and can be fully... Not the largest art gallery I have ever been in but certainly one of the most pleasant! The lady who greeted us in reception was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very welcoming. I really loved the section of paintings of the deep south. Thank you.

This museum has a very nice permanent collection of pieces from East Tennessee artists, as well as several travelling or temporary installations. We enjoyed the variety of pieces and styles. The art glass installation was especially interesting, as well as several of the sculptures. We've been to much larger museums with more impressive collections, but this was a great way... More

This “new” building is modern and purpose built, replacing the old mansion in which the museum was originally located. There are several floors, both permanent and traveling exhibits, several lovely balconies and patios in which to sit, and an interesting museum store. There is nothing outrageous or shocking or startlingly innovative, just a functional, well-designed space with many events, well... More

We've only visited the Museum once, earlier today, en route from New England to San Antonio. It is our practice to choose our routing as travel around America to include visits to art museums in small to middling cities. This trip, for instance, we'll visit museums in the Shenandoah Valley, Knoxville, Birmingham, AL, and Shreveport, LA. This Knoxville Museum of... More
