This zoo is in desperate need of upgrading and making more room for the animals. It was not a place that made me feel happy, instead it made me as sad as the animals looked to see them confined to their very tight spaces. It was only a step above just having them in a cage.

Sherry, Your review was very troubling to us, since we take the care and well-being of our animals very seriously. I forwarded your review to our Director of Animals and asked him to respond since I though you should here from the person who is in contact with our animals daily. I am posting it here and sincerely hope you... More

Knoxville has a great zoo for a mid sized city. Lots of new construction going on also to improve the facility.

We went on a day when admission was only $1 plus a can of food for the local food bank. I expedted it to be crowded and it was, but managable. The Zoo has lots of trails and places to visit, but not many animals to see. Is it out of season for the majority of animals, or does Zoo... More

The Knoxville Zoo is small but well maintained. It's best to visit in the summer when all the attractions are open. They recently renovated part of the zoo so some of the enclosures are larger and better organized so that is nice. My personal favorite is the Giraffe Scaffold. You can feed a giraffe (mostly designed for children to feed... More

Enjoyed going to the zoo on dollar days. My 2 year old had a blast. Our only disappointment was that because of the cooler weather all of the animals were not on exhibit.

At the time of our visit there was construction of a new tiger enclosure going on. This made navigation of the zoo a little confusing, but didn't dampen our enjoyment of the zoo. My only other complaint is that it wasn't always clear which animal was in which enclosure - specifically the reptiles.

I was not impressed with the zoo but it was under construction so I think it will be great once they've finished. The main thing we did not like was the huge gaps between animals. On a nice day it is a good place for exercise though. I will not return until they have finished construction.

Took advantage of $ days for a Long awaited zoo visit. Enjoyed seeing animals. So much construction made it difficult to enjoy. Animals seemed old. Enjoyed gorillas and otters. Otter view area needs to be bigger. Overall enjoyed the day.

The zoo is very nice. My family would say that the baby gorilla (born Sept 2016) was the absolute highlight, followed by the red panda, the black bears, and the river otters. Would love to go back in the warmer weather and let my kids try the camel ride. Next time! This is an older zoo but well worth the... More
