A very nice Zoo on the move! This zoo had a very humble beginning and has come such a very long way and so many plans are in the works for expansions. It is not quite up to the point of Nashville or Memphis but with time it will become the premier Zoo of the southeastern United States. The community has made a huge commitment towards expansion and maintaining such a great attraction!

Pretty basic set up. Seems outdated. You walk a long way to only see a few animals in certain areas. Time to rearrange and update.

Their own words “It is the mission of Zoo Knoxville to deliver dynamic guest experiences while inspiring action for wildlife and wild places.” I think one of the worst zoos ever. Very few animals, poorly laid out, can’t get close to the animals because of the blue buckets and yellow plastic chains and the PLEXI glass on all the habitats make it impossible to take in the experience. No giraffes, no tigers and no staff to engage with. The one area for the snakes and birds is probably the worst, you can’t see anything. I don’t know if $25 is worth it, maybe to some, but I think a waste of maybe 90 minutes.

We decided to visit Zoo Knoxville while spending some time in the area. It was a cool morning and we arrived just after it opened. Parking was easy and close. I had purchased tickets and parking online. This made entry easy but I'm not sure if anyone would have checked the parking charge if I didn't have it. It would probably be easier to make this part of the entry fee. Most of the displays were open although some of the animals were not visible, which was disappointing. The elephants, giraffes, and gorillas were active. Most of the exhibits are outside and there weren't crowds so safety was not a concern. There's quite a bit of construction taking place. It appears that several new exhibits are being added.
