Great Old Cemetery to visit, but be warned of the homeless and trash left there.... I have always wanted to visit this old cemetery, but was leery after reading about the homeless being there and how litter was everywhere. We went today and it was not as bad as in the past seemingly, but there were 3 homeless people living... More

After visiting the adjacent National Cemetery, this old historic cemetery containing resting places of many important local and state people was disappointing to say the least. Firstly, the grass needs a good cutback, then there is the trash just left around the site by people who don't give a dam. Some of them just lying around, smoking, drinking and passing... More

I'm as sympathetic as the next person, but do the homeless people really have to LIVE here? It is within walking distance of the Mission District (yes, it does exist) and the city is overwhelmed with services for these people, so please get them out of this absolutely amazing and beautiful space. It is downright disrespectful that they are allowed... More

We drove over an hour to see this place. The cemetery looks interesting and historical, however was completely spoiled by an infestation of homeless people and trash everywhere. My family of four felt uncomfortable and left immediately...

Peaceful to walk through and look at the gorgeous monuments and you will find some famous names as well. Tennessee is the Marble State, btw.

Beautiful tribute to those who have gone before. Many soldiers from the Civil War forward buried here. Wonderful for Memorial Day or July 4th to honor those who have defended our freedoms.

Beautiful monuments. Great history lesson as a lot of important people from Knoxville's past are laid to rest here. The only negative side is the number of homeless that frequent the area makes a less than pleasant experience.

Visiting this cemetery was one of the highlights of my visit to Knoxville. (I love old cemeteries, and this is a nice one.)There are many old graves here, and lots of trees to offer shade. The cemetery seems well tended--there were groundskeepers there while I was visiting. I wish I'd had more time to spend there, maybe next visit to... More
