After a visit to Mizen Head, take a drive out to Three Castle Head along a road almost designed to separate the committed from the casual. You will find yourself presented with a field car park and open views of the ocean, the inquisitive can go down the old slip way to small pools where swimming is possible - others... More

Used google maps to find this gem!! Parked the car, had a picnic overlooking the bay. Climbed rocks to see some amazing views. Saw people opening a gate and following a path... So followed them and trekked for about 20 mins to find three castle head. Bit of rough terrain, wear trainers.. Its v.windy so wrap up. Amazing views. Well... More

The 30 minute stroll from Dunlough Bay, where there is a small café and lunch shop, to the site of the castles is pure magic. Huge views of sea and cliffs, of rocks and hills, of sheep and seabirds. The castles are nearly 800 years old and though it is no longer possible to climb into them just being close... More

One magnificent place. Probably even more awesome that it is not a tourist destination and not clearly marked at the beginning

We took time out during a leisurely afternoon walk and enjoyed both the food and the scenery. The staff were friendly and efficient. We had heard very positive reports about the place and were not disappointed. Looking forward to next year d.v.

My daughters, 15 and 9, and my dad and I set out from Dunlough Bay car park on a very windy autumnal day to see Three castles head. It was well worth the hilly trek, over the stepping stones and battling against the wind to see this stunning site. We walked down around the ruins and took in the awesomeness.... More

Words can't describe the awesome natural beauty or the payoff from hiking to the stone cairn above the castles! This is a place not to be missed in southern Ireland!

This is an amazing site to visit. A groovy cafe with excellent food and a great welcome and then a ramble over the hill to the most dramatic castle site in West Cork. Three Castles falling over a cliff with the O'Mahonys still haunting the site. A dramatic view over 3 peninsulas. A taste of the wild. If you can... More

A beautiful, historic area of West Cork, Ireland, through private farmland, with magnificent views on a good day. Fairly easy walk from the car park, we were 3 adults, oldest aged 65, and a baby in a sling attached to her father. Well worth the visit!
