Less traveled than cliffs of moher, but more dramatic and mysterious

the most western point in ireland offers a beautiful view, a dramatic lighthouse, and a very easy trail - definetly worth your visit

Mizen Head is well worth a visit. Its the Southernmost and Westernmost part of Mainland Co Cork. West Cork is a really beautiful part of Ireland and the Mizen Head is worth a visit even just for itself. It would be about a two hour drive from Cork City and there are several ways to get there, best are ,... More

If you are in the area, the Mizen Head is well worth a visit. The scenery is of course stunning and you get a very close experience of the grandeur of the Atlantic. The old lighthouse is also well worth the entrance fee and gives a great insight into the challenges of living and working on this remote coast. Also... More

The weather was not the best but we decided to go anyway,so glad we did,we had such fun. The center was a mine of information, the walk over the footbridge was awesome! We sat up on the hill overlooking the sea, magical.

This small visitor centre, with a convenient cafe - no alcohol! - and loads of information about the history and botany/geology of the area is well worth a visit. You can walk, for a small fee, down to the old light house across magnificent bridge giving great views of rocks and seals.

We were lucky enough to get a beautiful sunny day when we visited Mizen Head. I wouldn't like to be here during bad weather! The visitor centre and the signal station were quite interesting - telling the story of the lighthouse, keepers, birds etc. The bridge to the signal station is a little on the terrifying for those afraid of... We're so happy we chosen to drive out in our car from Skibbereen and explore Mizen Head Signal Station and serene landscape around it. The path winding to the site was good exercise and the bridge across the gap kickstarted my fear of heights. The wild heaving sea crashing against the rocky, jagged cliffs were epic. We got a real... Built on the cliffs overlooking the ocean so it offers unbeatable views of waves crashing into the shore. If you look hard, there are seals to be spotted under the scenic bridge.

Called with my wife when we did the walk/tour of the Mizen Head bridge and lighthouse. When you buy your ticket to the lighthouse you have to cross thru the Visitor Centre to get to them. The centre is well worth a visit with a model of the lighthouse, lots of pictures of before construction, during and after. And of... More
