Trip to visit Dyson & Amelia
Jun 2021 • Family
Mary (owner) took our family including my very excited 9 year old son, on a walk around the grounds with Amelia the pig. She was so kind to the kids and really helped create an experience they will never forget. It can’t be easy to keep going in Covid times but Mary was a delight. Thank you!

Great day out
May 2021 • Couples
Great day out!
Arrived this morning at the sanctuary to be greated by Mary our host, she was so lovely and welcoming to us, we also got to meet Roy her husband who told us a few details about the animals they have there, after that we went to meet Emelia (the pig) once we got acquainted we pursed on our little walk through the forest trail that Emelia led us on the way, it really shows how well Mary and Roy look after all the animals it truly reflects in the animals, Emelia was happy to stop pose and scoot through the forest whilst receiving her breakfast along the way 🐷

After our walk with Emelia, Roy met us with coffees and let us enjoy the walk round the sanctuary to enjoy a picnic they had set up for us to go enjoy while taking in the lovely views 😊

Thanks So much, we had a great day and will definitely be back to see Emelia 🐷❤

Lovely day out!
Aug 2020
Absolutely amazing experience, would recommend to everyone I know coming to Galway. The centre is very easy to get to, absolutely beautiful + well-maintained, and the staff are lovely. We came for the fairy pig walk, which was fantastic value for money and honestly just a wonderful experience. The pig is adorable and such a character, as are all of the other animals. You really get the sense that the staff love the centre and the animals and that they're all very well looked after. The ticket includes the pig walk as well as entry to the whole centre (which is beautiful) and a free tea/ coffee in the cute cafe. It was a great day out, and I'd definitely return in the future.

Great day out
Aug 2020 • Family
Came here last week in August with 3 kids aged 8,7 and 5. We booked online the morning of visiting. On entry we had to wear masks and use disinfectant for hands. Names and contact no.taken, kids went to the playground first, its a brilliant playground, kids loved the double zipline and had fun doing races against each other. Really cool slide fully inclosed great for Irish weather so you don't get wet going down it. Also a really good sand area. Once it started raining we went to the inside play area, again measures done to ensure correct social distancing. Kids had so much fun, then we had our picnic in the room adjacent to it which
had tables spaced appropriately, once rain ended we went to look at the animals , did the fairy trail and the walk around. Kids loved the whole thing. Great set up. Esp in good weather you could put in the whole day, we were there for 3 hrs.

We visited on a rare dry day in August and did the Fairy Pig walk. Mary was a super host and worked hard to engage our teen and tween. Included in the ticket price for the pig walk is access to the centre. I would recommend people plan there day accordingly and get the best value for the entry fee.
The new Covid regulations have made things so difficult for small businesses to get back up and running. Mary and her family have obviously made that effort and we were delighted to be able to support them. Thanks for looking after us and good luck to the new pigs in your care.

Thank you so much for the fabulous review, we really appreciate you understanding how difficult it has been to reopen. Many local sites couldn't manage it with the restrictions. So glad you enjoyed your visit. Mary

Get back to nature as nature intended
Aug 2020 • Family
Spent a lovely day in the Burren Nature Sanctuary last week, the weather was beautiful which probably enhanced the whole experience. My 4 year old loved the animals, nature walk and fairy trail as well as the playground and indoor play area. It was very well layout and managed with COVID restrictions. So nice to get back to nature and enjoy the Burren landscape with small children. It is great value we felt, as it was just under €10 each for the day. Only negative we had was picnic benches were not available for our own use and we had to make do with a picnic in the booth of our car!! They have an area for blankets but this is just not the same as being able to sit and eat at a table especially as it is beside the area where cars are parked.

Hi Ciara thank you so much for the lovely review. We really appreciate it. I understand about the picnic area, unfortunately picnics lead to terrible littering (we do have a space for picnics but don't really 'encourage' it) We have waste targets to hit and aim to reduce our waste by 10% each year. Even though we put up a 'pack it in pack it out' sign for picnics, unfortunately, it didn't work. It's a tricky one. Thanks for the feedback any suggestions welcome.

Beautiful activity with plenty to see and do for all ages.
Aug 2020
We visited the Burren Nature Sanctuary on what was supposed to be the worst weather day of the holiday. I was dreading the day but it turned out to be the highlight of the holiday for me.

Such a beautiful place. Well organised in terms of response to Covid19.

Lots to do - animals at the petting farm, a brilliant fairy forest trail that is cleverly thought out, tours with the animals, lovely different sheltered areas throughout the Sanctuary for you to sit and enjoy the beauty.

An amazing playground with lots for every age group.

The pizzas looked amazing! (Our daughter can't eat pizza - but it's the only thing that they are serving at the moment so come prepared) The beauty of the all day ticket is that you could go into Kinvara and get something to eat and go back to the park if you wanted.

There are loads of picnic areas too.

Definitely worth a visit. And if we lived locally I'd certainly become a member because I would love to visit often.

100% recommend.

Will lt be back
Jul 2020
Totally agree with the previous review , 40e for what , this is a very expensive family day out to see a goat , some donkeys with an additional charge to walk a pig! Will not be back .. coffee and some cakes over 20e , understand its a difficult time with Covid but seriously?!

Dear W1051Pkateg, Our admission ticket allows all day access to Burren Nature Sanctuary with looped nature trails around the wildflower meadows, limestone and woodland with interpretive panels mobile audio guide, Burren Film and the botancial exhibit in the Botany Bubble. It also includes walks through the fairy woodlands and meet and feed the animals, and access to indoor and outdoor adventure playgrounds. Visitors tend stay for at least a half a day and enjoy the walks, botany exhibit, and play areas and find 39 euro for a family day pass to be very good value. At present this is €10 less than our nearest competitor and they limit visit time to 2 hours. Those who visit regularly benefit from our annual membership which allows two adults free per card and 25 / 50% discount on child tickets. If you would like to contact us we would be happy to provide more details on membership. Again we are sorry that you did not experience the full extent of what Burren Nature Sanctuary has to offer on your recent visit as it is great value and there is lots to do and see for visitors of all ages. We are not an open farm and the animals (most of which are adopted/rescued/retired) complement the experience at Burren Nature Sanctuary. However we do have 4cows, 5 donkeys, 5 horses, 2 pigs, 7 goats, 4 rabbits, 2 ducks, 1 Llama, 1 alpaca, 20 guinea pigs not to mention the wildlife around the trails! We understand that price is upmost in everyones mind at present and many places (including the nearby Dunguaire Castle) have not reopened due to the cost of implementing Covid procedures, cleaning regimes and sanitation. It is very easy to give a 1 star review but very unfair and damaging to a small family business struggling to keep the doors open. We have many 5 star reviews and with a 4.9 star rating on facebook (over 10,000 page likes) and 4.9 rating on Airbnb experiences. We are sorry if the price is too much for some families at this difficult time but our margins are very tight and we have lost 4 months of high season meaning that getting through next winter will be challenging. I am not sure what coffees and cakes you purchased but we our prices are identical to all cafés in Kinvara. Perhaps you would like to avail of the family membership to experience the great discount this offers at Burren Nature Sanctuary Thank you
