Excellent afternoon but notice saying museum is open needs to be taken down. Apart from that we had a good walk around but didn't stop for coffee.

Our apologies. The ladies on the front desk should of told you there were no house tours this year as we were unsure if we were likely to see many visitors. It's a big job to get the museum and house ready for just a few months of the season.

had looked forward to seeing these 'botanical gardens' during our 5 day stay in September but left disappointed - very little in flower and gardens were overgrown and neglected - having visited National trust properties earlier in the year with walled gardens that rely on volunteers that looked good despite lack of volunteers during the pandemic, this one left us underwhelmed. it was too early for autumn colour - a few of the roses had flowers left but many petals on the ground - a few were wonderfully scented. Had some coconut cheesecake and a drink in the cafe - also disappointing offering.... as much of the island seemed to be in a hospitality staff shortage situation in restaurants, hotels etc they were no different but as we were not there for long, we'd selected places to visit based on information available via tourist board, websites etc.... hope it picks up in the springtime..

We are sorry you were left dissapointed by you visit with us. The gardens are far from neglected, its just we are two full time gardening staff down despite advertising locally. Heres to a better 2022 with more staff and a better summer.

The gardens looked a bit tired to me, the jungle path was impassable and the tunnel path was just weird! The Japanese garden is pretty and a nice water area with carp.
For nearly £10 each we were only looking around the gardens for about an hour. Couldn't find the machinery that was on the map. Animals on the map were a horse and a donkey behind gates and fencing.
Cafe was nice.
Been to much nicer gardens and was disappointed with this one.

I am so sorry you were left dissapointed with your visit with us. The agricultural museum along with the manor house remains closed for the year so this is why you could not find the machinery. We are two gardeners down despite advertising so I am afraid we are not looking at our best. June is the absolute best time to visit.

My friend and myself called at Samares Manor for a walk round the gardens and have lunch at the cafe Cocorico. I was looking forward to the meal, but it was very bland and disappointing. The staff looked harassed and ordering took a long time. The toasted sandwich was barely cooked and it looked like it was just warmed up in the microwave. We should really have complained. Consequently we will never return to eat there again.

I am sorry you were dissaponted with your meal. We sadly are no different to every other hospitality venue at present with a shortage of staff and up until this week a chef working seven days a week.

Visited these gardens in September with friends, very disappointed. Lots of bare ground and dead plants. The Japanese garden was the best, but not in full colour because of the time of year.
We did the whole garden in 35 minutes, an expensive walk.
In their defence they where having staff problems because of Covid. But we should have been warned about this at the visitor reception desk.
Maybe things will be better next year, but give it a miss for now.

Covid indeed strikes again, two gardeners down, no cafe staff. We are literally just about keeping our heads above water just like any other attraction sadly. I must say I find it quiet strange that you covered the whole area in 35 minutes which makes me wonder if you missed sections of the gardens? We are genuinely sorry it was a dissapointment but we feel that the entry is fair for the opertunity to take in the wildlife, plants, beautiful buildings and just the peace and uplift of the space.

We paid nearly £20 to visit a garden that quite frankly was once lovely but now sadly overgrown, being a keen gardener myself I felt that I should have bought my gardening tools in order to help out. Lillies in ponds need some attention, Japanese garden equally needs weeding and plenty of deadheading sadly lacking. We didn't try the cafe so I can't comment on that. We left within the hour feeling the £20 we spent could have been spent elsewhere.

I am geniunely sorry that you felt the gardens were overgrown . We are two full time gardeners down despite advertising so we can only do what we can do at this time. Here's to a better 2022

Totally underwhelmed! After the build up by the enthusiastic receptionist who swiftly took our entrance fee in the well stocked pretty gift shop, it was all down hill. Apart from the fact they sell crepes, there is nothing french about the cafe, a few lack lustre pastries and tarts in a scruffy room with outdoor seating. The garden is quite unkempt, particularly around the cafe, for the price this should be immaculate. The pagoda in the Japanese garden was used to store furniture, it was hard to discern one are from another, but I did have to smile at an overgrown area which was being upsold as a ‘jungle’ for children 😂. This has been beautiful in the past but I was very disappointed by this visit. I know we are in difficult times, but please put more effort into maintenance of this potentially beautiful area.

I am sorry that you felt underwhemed by the gardens. You are correct in saying the gardens have been better but as most Jersey businesses this year we have not been able to find seasonal staff. lets hope ext year see's better times.

Visited as not far from our hotel and had a free afternoon. The garden was pleasant enough but for £20 entry for two expected a little bit more. Most other attractions on the island are priced less than National Trust equivalents on mainland UK. The gardens here were overpriced for what you are getting and the manor house was closed. Enjoyable visit if a little underwhelming.

I am sorry that you felt the gardens were over priced. June is the absolute best time to visit the gardens. We like many other businesses in Jersey have struggled to find sesonal staff this year which does reflect in the management of the gardens.

Lovely visit to this place, the botanical gardens here are beautiful and there are flowers and plants for every time of year. We only saw ducks, animal wise. It’s worth climbing the steps to view the gardens from above and visit the Japanese garden too.. lots of hidden gems here.
There is a play park for the kids, a cafe and plants you can purchase.
Definitely take a visit!

The gardens are beautiful especially the Japanese Gardens, I’ve been to Japan and have to say this garden is not half bad.
The Coco Rico cafe was disappointing, very dirty but food was ok. The hygiene is obviously not their top priority.
