It was a nice sunny day so we walked round to Samares Manor from our hotel in St Helier it took all of 15 minutes tops. We has a look around the small garden centre at the front before paying at the gates and entering to explore. There is so much here from the botanical gardens, The manor and the... More

It is good to hear that you enjoyed your visit and felt that we have a lot on offer. Although the majority of people come to Samares Manor to enjoy the botanic gardens, the manor house itself and the agricultural museum are also very popular, adding historical context to the horticultural developments. I am particularly pleased that you found the... More

We visited here on a very wet and stormy day but still had a fantastic time! The staff here are great, the guides are very knowledgable and make sure your tour is interesting at all times. We did the carriage museum tour, the house tour and the herb garden tour and our guide was excellent. The cafe isn't up to... More

My colleagues and I are really pleased that you awarded us five stars, despite it being a wet and stormy day. You mention the various tours and talks: we are very lucky in having guides who are extremely knowledgeable and also very enthusiastic about their subjects. We hope you will visit us in the future when the sun is shining... More

It was the terrible tea room that ruined our visit. The staff were rude and got the order all wrong in spite of going through it before totalling what I had to pay. So when the order came they hadn't included everything so I had to pay more money. And so miserly - I asked for strong tea and the... More

I am very sorry that you had such a poor experience in the Herb Garden Café. Clearly rudeness to customers is unacceptable and I will pass on your review to the owner of the café concession. Although the café operates as an independent business, the service, prices and quality of food reflect on the Botanic Gardens as a whole. I... More

Samares manor is a very special place for young and old alike. I live in jersey and had a family membership whilst my children were little. We called it Harry potter land, with a herbology garden, hagreds hut in the form of a thatched doo cot, a whomping willow tree, Chinese gardens to chase dragons through and lots of green... More

Arrived at the bus station with a day pass and was going to go direct to the gardens but was too early for the 1A bus so hopped on another bus to Gorey and had a wander there noting when a return 1A would leave. The 1A dropped me at the entrance to the Manor. I felt the entrance fee... More

You make an interesting and welcome point about seeing younger people in the gardens. It is our aim to provide enjoyment not only for those with horticultural interests but also those who appreciate the tranquillity and aesthetics of the garden. And there are plenty of wide open spaces for the children to enjoy. More

After an excellent lunch at the café we spent an enjoyable afternoon in the gardens. Particularly enjoyed reading about the different herbs & their uses. I would like to visit again at different time of year.

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your lunch and visit to the garden. You mention the herb garden: the development of the botanic gardens really started with the creation of the herb garden way back in 1983. It was conceived by garden designer and author John Brookes who used the walled garden to its full potential, introducing large blocks... More

We were pleasantly surprised by the variety packed into these gardens. They are not huge just a 14 acre site. There are educational bits as well as just nice gardens very well labelled and explained giving some very good ideas. The café offers a very nice menu to cater for everybody from teas and coffees, ice creams to very nice... More

We are please that you enjoyed the variety within the gardens. The original multifaceted design of the gardens which were established in the 1920s has allowed us to introduce a wide range of garden styles, which although distinctive, sit well together. The Japanese Garden is part of the original design, together with the ponds and the limestone rock gardens. The... More

Lovely botanical garden to wander round. Not the largest in the world, but packed with interest and good ideas.Water garden/rockery currently being maintained, but doesn't detract from a good half-day out. Great place for picnics and eatery on site. Can visit Manor House for additional charge on some days

My colleagues and I are pleased that enjoyed your visit to the garden and found interesting some of new ideas that have been put in place in recent years. Spent 3 hours ambling round the garden, on a beatiful late summers day. Not a great garden fan, but the two of us enjoyed the peace, nice surroundings and calming feeling. We had tea and a lovely cake in the restaurant. If you want to escape to a very tranquill place, on a nice day, this is the place.

I am pleased you enjoyed your visit to the botanic gardens despite not being a garden fan. We have a large following of local people who, like you, are not necessarily gardeners but enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the gardens on a regular basis. I will pass on your positive comments to the Herb Garden Café. More
