The train is more expensive than the bus but takes a much more scenic trip right along the promenade. It can get very busy though and it passed us more than once full to the rafters. We took it later in the day when it was quieter, from the Elizabeth Castle ferry departure point into St Aubins where it drops you right in the harbour. The commentary along the way is interesting and I'd recommend it at least once if you are making the trip around the bay.

We boarded the train at Liberation Square and would recommend using this stop rather than the one near the Castle ferry kiosk. This is because by the time our almost full train got to the second stop every row was occupied so the groups waiting to board had to be split up (each row seated a max of 4 people).
We chose a one way ride at £6 per adult/£3 per child. Paid by card on the train, very easy.
There is a lovely commentary on board and we learned a lot. We had a nice walk around St Aubins and walked back to St Helier which is definitely further than it looked! Great fun though and would recommend it.

Handy little train from St Helier Liberation square takes 35minutes to St Aubin. Driver and conductor very friendly and trusting. Crosses the pretty beach and you can take lovely pictures of Elizabeth Castle en route. £9 single or £18 round trip. We had planned to get off at St Aubin but saw the number of people waiting to get the train back (including the train before which crossed us) so thought wed do the round trip. There is an option to get a bus back independently (£2.80). As you go past the bay it gets very cold/windy so take warm clothing!!

Outstanding experience. Pleasant Driver/Guide was clear and interesting as we wound our way around the seafront. His constant advice on places of interest as we passed them was invaluable. We went back to many of them on the Liberty Buses in following days. He gave Bus Route Numbers for major sites. We’d never have known of many things pointed out to us during the journey and looked them up online after too. It was fantastic value for money and easy to do from Liberty Square. Because the Jersey Petit Train trip was so good we did 4 more Petit Train rides next stops, immediately at arrival in the respective towns. Best way to see and learn a lot.

Had the misfortune to be on the train heading to St Aubin this afternoon 23/07.
We were on the last carriage when the driver/fare collector let all friends board the train for free. Two big families who had obviously been there and done it, who proceeded to open bottles of beer and shout to each other the whole journey.
We heard nothing of the commentary bar their very loud voices.
Absolutely shocking behaviour on a service for tourists.

Please accept our apologies and I am very sorry you didn’t have a good experience. Alcohol is not permitted to be onboard and the passengers were aware of this - so I can only apologise that this rule was broken.
We would love to offer you a free return ride which you would hopefully enjoy and listen to our commentary along the way. Please send us an email to info@littletrain.co.uk to arrange.

The little train is an attractive white ,pristine clean, it chugged along the ciastline from St Helier to St Aubins. The views were picturesque and the sea beautiful and quite serene ,some windsurfers .St Aubins nestled in the hills and Elizabeth Castle stood alone on an island rock.
Jersey is a tax haven some beautiful grand properties on the sea front
It was a good day out.
We stayed at Alisters Guest House,a modest establishment and you can order food from Chutneys or Saffron, both very good restaurants.
Alisters is going to restore its breakfasts as you can't go on holiday without this.
The staff are very good .

This is a.must-do when visiting Jersey. Le Prtit Train runs from St. Helier to St Aubin’s and back - a six mile round trip. There is a very good commentary during the journey which points out places of interest.

We had a few hours to spare on our last day in Jersey and decided to take the Petit Train from St Helier to St Aubin's bay.
We did not get on at the start but used one of the recognised stops on the Esplanade.
The sign told us to get on the train and we would be given a ticket at some point along the way. However, we were approached by the person from the nearby bicycle hire and asked for the fare in cash. We handed over a £20 note and received two return tickets. The cost is £18 but no change was forthcoming.
Things did not improve, we could not hear the commentary due to noisy children and a man sitting next to me who did not stop talking very loudly the entire 35 minute journey.
Whilst I appreciate that "The Petit Train" has no control over parents and loud passengers, perhaps a polite reminder on the signage that some passengers might like to hear about the history etc. Perhaps the driver could ask passengers at the start to be considerate of those who would like to hear the information being provided.
Our return journey an hour later was a bit better as we sat as far away from the family of loud children.
We did ask the driver about the cost and why had we not received any change. He told us that the bicycle hire man "usually gets it right" but of course "he is special needs".
We did let it go as it seemed a lot of fuss for £2, but there is a principal here.
We had a lovely time in Jersey and thoroughly enjoyed a boat trip, an open top vintage bus tour and the war tunnels. Sad to end with this
All in all, save your money, hope onto the open top double decker at the bus station going to St Brelade's Bay. Far more pleasant.

We loved our ride on Le Petite Train!
We boarded at the stop in St Helier.
Tickets were £9 return for an adult (£6 single)
The train takes about 35mins to get to At Aubin.
The ride is very pleasant and there is an on board commentary track that gives you little bits of information about various landmarks as you travel past them.
We took the train as it was raining and stayed perfectly dry onboard.
Actually quite a nice way to sightsee even if the weather isn’t great!

These two guys are the best! My mother, who is almost 80 and not the most mobile, was helped on and off with the patience, courtesy and dignity you'd be hard pressed to find. What a lovely experience, we took the round trip and when he came round to validate the tickets we had a lovely bit of banter - will definitely be doing this next time we are there. Even after coming here for over 20 years, we still learned something new from the professional commentary. Top marks from us!
(I've had to choose Family (Teens) because there wasn't a category for grown up kids with elderly parents!!)

Hi, I'm afraid I can not answer your query as I was a foot pedestrian throughout my tour, but did notice car parks near the station stop(s)

I don’t believe so, there certainly weren’t any wheelchair users on the train the times we used it. All prams/buggies had to be folded and put in a separate compartment, so I’m guessing if the wheelchair user can get in and out of their chair they could use the train, but perhaps not otherwise. Sorry I couldn’t be if more help.

Its about 8 or 9 pounds per adult, I don'y think children are free but it is a concessionary fair.
