I have just finished a day, with my mother, on The Authentic Island Tour. We were collected promptly from our St Brelade hotel and conveyed to the departure point in St Helier.

The coach was comfortable and spacious. Given that it's only early March, the tour was only ¾ full, which meant we could stretch out a bit.

Despite the weather being changeable throughout the whole day, we luckily managed to dodge the rain and most of our stop-off points were bathed in sunshine!

Our driver and tour guide, Jamie, was a pleasant chap. Knowledgeable and friendly.

The tour gave us a brilliant overview of the entire island. Well worth the £20 we paid per person.

Would certainly recommend, either earlier on in your stay if you're in Jersey for a week or more (to help you get the lay of the land) or to help you see a little bit of everything, during a weekend break.

We did the authentic tour last week and had a fabulous day. The weather played its part and we felt we saw a lot of the island and learned a great deal about its history. The stops were well planned and our driver, Alex, added greatly to our enjoyment with his hilarious commentary. £20 for a full day tour makes it an unmissable bargain.

We went on the island tour round Jersey today, with Tony as driver and tour guide - truly excellent in both departments!

(When bus meets bus on narrow roads, don’t panic!)

The tour was designed to show us the coastal beauty as well as the coastal defences, so it didn’t (for instance) visit the War tunnels or the Zoo, as they are inland. But Tony explained about the different parishes and their flags, and showed an amazing in-depth knowledge of the history of the island and the people who live here.

With hotel pick-up, planned stops for photos and food, it was a very good day and I’d highly recommend it. Thanks Tony!

This tour to see Jersey may be a reasonable price, but the driver/guide [Alex] was very poor indeed. He spent the whole day telling silly stories and jokes and did not give much information on Jersey itself. When we stopped somewhere we had no idea where we were. We were not told. He never stopped talking telling us absolutely nothing just mentioning well known people who lived on the island. Why would we want to know this? Some of his 'facts' were wrong and he did not seem to take into account that someone on the bus might be more knowledgeable than him on what 'London' does. I went on this island tour to learn more about Jersey and I learnt absolutely nothing. It was a big disappointment.

Excellent, good value tour which can rightly be described as The Authentic Island Tour.
I would relay recommend this tour that takes passengers all they way around the coast of Jersey. Alex, the driver, provided a very informative and interesting commentary to which he added his own amusing anecdotes and experiences as a 30 years plus resident. He was hoppy to answer all questions on all aspects of the Island’s history and life on Jersey today.
The coach stopped regularly for us to get off and walk around the sights we stopped at. There were longer breaks for a mid morning cup of coffee and at a pub stop for lunch for those who wanted to eat and or drink. Left at 10.00am back 4.30pm with collections and drop offs at a number of hotels.
I booked at short notice by email but had to pay driver in cash as no facility to pay by card on the coach.
This is a must do tour to see the Island get a real feel and flavour of Jersey.
Highly recommended.

Think about a tour of any kind, and you think about information, and the Authentic Island Tour delivers the story of Jersey.
Tony is not only an excellent driver, but he is a communicator with the knowledge of an encyclopedia. He also managed a full coach load of 42 people, ensuring that passengers returned promptly at each stopping point, avoiding the usual long delays.
We really enjoyed the day, and followed it up by visiting the Maritime and Tapestry museum to continue the story. We can strongly recommend this experience.
One very minor complaint is that the tour coaches all seem to be at the stop at the same time.

Went around the island 8th October, Tony our driver made our trip, sharing historical and funny stories about the island and some of its famous occupants. He was so obliging and knowledgeable pulling figures and dates out about every stop and visit we made. Thank you

Had a terrific all day tour of Jersey with Waverley coaches and our guide Tony today. Tony was a mine of information and so enthusiastic (amazing considering he must do this commentary so often). Great value for money and after this tour I had learnt about so many places on the island I could now visit in more depth using the local buses. Tony told us the number of each bus to use to reach different areas. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone wishing to discover more about this lovely island.

Following a recent knee replacement we were at a loss how to explore Jersey in a weekend despite a lack of mobility. As soon as we checked in at our hotel, we were shown the brochure and booked that evening for the next day. Tony, the driver took 7 of us around the island in a minibus, taking us to beautiful bays, bunkers, coffee shops , Jersey Pearl, explaining so much about Jersey life, homes, residents, history and culture. He gave us such a broad overview with a touch of humour. His manner of explanation was perfect- he would introduce the name of the sight, then explain about it and then repeat the name giving us every opportunity to fully absorb all the information. He was amazing and knew so much. The bays he showed us and the houses and quaint buildings, the bunkers, defence towers and wealth of history were brilliant. All for £20 from 10 a.m. until just after 16:00. What a perfect tour, very fairly priced and beautifully conducted. Thank you.
