Gill’s walking tour of St Peter Port was amazing. We learnt so much about Guernsey, the history of the island, all about the occupation, the island administration today and many facets of Victor Hugo to boot.

Gill made it feel really personal and answered loads of questions. A great guide for our first visit to Guernsey

Had a lovely an informative experience with Gill as our guide on a walk around the lanes of the Parish of Castel as part of an evening group walk. Gill provided many interesting details and facts about the local area and is clearly very knowledgeable. A real treat was a spread of local produce laid on as a "pit stop" which was much appreciated. I'm looking forward to future walks with her!

Many thanks for taking time to write a review, I don’t do this route very often so it was a pleasure to do it with you. I’m glad you enjoyed the local tasting, we are lucky to have so many excellent producers on the island. A la perchoine Gill

Gill is friendly, approachable and incredibly knowledgeable about Guernsey: its history, landscape and wildlife. Her love for her subject shines through and taking her tour really elevated my experience of Guernsey and Herm. Highly recommended!

If you can book Gill, then do! She is amazing. We took a 2-hour two of St Peter's Port and came away with a detailed feel for the history, and amazing resilliance of the Guernsey People. Gill provided a comprehensive history that provided real insight, with photographs, maps and other myriad documents to bring the tour to life. The tour was taken at a really enjoyable pace, with nuggests of social history that gave life to the Island (including her learning to swim in the outside sea baths you can see from the top of the town brrrrrrrrrr). Before our trip the contact was brilliant, with tips on other things we were planning to do (for example, take cash for the German Occupation Museum because they do not take cards; if taking the bus between these two places you need to ask the driver for that stop, and then walk down a particualr road to get to the Renoir Trail - she went absolutely above and beyond to ensure that we had a brilliant time on Guernsey). We hope to return later in the year to tour the neolithic monuments on the north of the island with Gill. I can utterly see why The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society producers had her as their location guide - she knows everything! Seriously, see if you can book Gill before you even think about anyone else. She really is the Best.

With Covid lockdown restricting our visitors, walks this year are either aimed at locals or Isle of Man air bridge visitors. This tour was for Isle of Man visitors but as a local I knew I would enjoy it and learn plenty.
This was a 2 hour walk around town; not covering a great distance but with enough hills and steps to demonstrate that the town is built on a cliff and of course we were high enough to get spectacular views over the harbour and other islands.
Gill is very knowledgeable and was able to answer questions raised by the visitors. An excellent summary of the last 900 or so years of Guernsey history with illustrations and family stories to bring the recent past to life.
I can definitely recommend one if Gill’s tours.

Gill was great, she was so knowledgeable and really engaging, we really enjoyed the tour. My mum wasn’t able to walk so far so Gill tailored the walk to make it easier for her to walk around too. As well as explaining the history of the island she also spoke about The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which is one of my favourite books. I would recommend Gill’s tours to anyone who wants to learn more about the island and it’s history especially around the occupation.

Really enjoyable guided walk from Portlet up the cliffs and back down past La Table de Pions (the Fairy Rings) with work colleagues led by Gill Girard. We walked and stopped at various interesting landmarks and view points with Gill giving a fantastic overview of Guernsey history. Gill was really lovely and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend her.

Gill is an excellent guide and took us through lanes/tracks that even Castel residents didn't know about. Her knowledge of the area is stunning and sprinkled with family anecdotes makes for a fascinating walk. Sampling local foods and drinks at her family home was an added bonus. Many thanks Gill and I am looking forward to my next walk with you. Edith

Guernsey is so much more than the Potato Peel book/movie and Gill helped us see all aspects of this beautiful island. The history, geography and economy of this island are fascinating. I’m not sure what we expected but it was so much more. In addition to learning about the island we visited stops from the book, walked trails off the beaten path and saw all coasts of the island. Gill was flexible and her deep knowledge and family history make for an engaging day.

Gill is an engaging, experienced and informative guide. Living on Guernsey, I have been to Lihou scores of times but on this trip learned a huge amount about the history, topography, natural environment and wildlife of the island. Great value for money. Take wellies.
