The Guernsey Tapestry is a fantastic way to understand the complex history of the islands. Ten panels (all stitched by locals to celebrate the Millenium) beautifully explain the events of each century. An easy to use and understand audio guide adds to the experience (available in English, French and German). A quote from the visitors book 'This was a wonderful way of telling history - I've never seen anything quite like it - don't miss it!'

I live here and am really interested in the history of the island, but honestly, it was really boring. I went here quite a while ago and also quite recently, and both of the times the experience was awful. There is not a lot to...More

Should have gone here first as it would have answered questions about the island before we visited the rest of it. The tapestry is fantastic (and I’m a bloke!). We spent about 40 mins listening to the audio guide and looking at the 12 tapestry...More

We visited Guernsey early in the New Year when just about everything (including all the museums and Castle Cornet) was shut. We were lucky to find this attraction open (Thursdays only in winter) and it was well worth while. The tapestries are beautiful and interesting....More

This hand crafted set of panels is rich in the history of Guernsey and worth taking the time to listen to the informative audio . Try to chose a time with few other visitors as sitting while listening and viewing would be better than peering...More

Before the Millennium a group of ladies agreed on a project to mark 1000 years of Guernsey history with 10 embroidered panels, one completed by each of the main parishes covering a different century. The designs and styles of stitching were co-ordinated and the effect...More

Each of the ten parishes on Guernsey cooperated to make ten tapestries covering each century from 1000 AD to 2000 AD. They are beautifully made and very informative. A great team effort of which the ladies (and some men) should be rightly proud.

10 different tapestrys done by locals from different regions of the Island. You are given a handheld player and go around at your own pace. Upstairs there is a large cafe with good views and a balcony. A good way to spend 1-2 hours.

This little gallery houses the wonderful Millenium tapestry, with a panel depicting each parish and each century of (fairly recent) history. Beautifully stitched, and with a portable individual commentary, no visit is complete without seeing this excellent attraction. You can also buy a few crafty...More

This was probably one of the most interesting exhibitions I went to during my week on Guernsey. The tapestry was designed to commemorate 1000 years of island history at the turn of the millennium. Each of the 10 parishes were charged with designing their own...More
