Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We admired the plaques commemorating the various notable parishioners. We also enjoyed the nice architecture of the building that offers free access. The church even provided a free pamphlet, albeit we could not find the English version.

This review is not about the Town Church because the subject I want to write about does not fall into one of the categories for reviews but it is important that visitors to Guernsey
are made aware that some of the local taxis will charge you a minimum of £15 to pick you up from the airport and take you to your destination , even if your hotel or destination is only a few minutes journey from the airport. This is a rip off- beware! Guernsey taxis are amongst the most expensive in the world, falling not far short of central London prices but this latest rip-off is annoying locals and visitors alike. Taxis have meters and are supposedly regulated ( I say supposedly because if they are it is third world lax regulation!). The excuse given for the minimum charge is that they have to wait for passengers- as the late Michael Jackson famously said "It's all B.S." The can see the airport website on their cellphones and are aware from their radio systems when I flight will arrive and when it is delayed so they are not losing any money. Guernsey Tourism ought to look into this practice which is bringing the Island into disrepute. Guernsey also claims that it is a VAT free Island, another example of B.S- check prices in UK before you buy in Guernsey, you will be surprised at the rip offs they get away with here and don't think of booking a taxi to take you to a restaurant a few miles from your hotel because if you do you will be in sack cloth and ashes when you add up the cost of meal and the return taxi fares. Value for money- get real Guernsey you need to do something about your taxi service.

We caught the Condor ferry from Poole in Dorset and arrived at St. Peter Port at 12.15. On arrival we had a leisurely walk into the town and found a Costa café. The whole of the town was filled with professional musicians of every genre. The scenery was magnificent. We’ve waited many years to visit the Channel Islands. We’ve not been disappointed. The parish church was a lovely place to visit.

An average Church that is worth calling into when passing. I always raise an eyebrow when they have all the card “tap and go” technology on full display as you enter. Definitely worth a look, but does not stand out from the crowd.

Better say from the start I am not a church person, but this is a stunning church, the architecture is lovely. However, what I found absolutely fascinating were all the stones commemorating past citizens of Guernsey. The history, information, stories of life and death. All there for you to read, I found myself there for nearly an hour and half with still more to read.
A very nice touch was a small self service tea/coffee/biscuit honour area they had there and some comfy seats to rest up. Much appreciated.
I would definitely recommend a visit, was not what I was expecting and I only went in because the door was open. At least, that's what i thought at the time.

Another highlight of our visit and a must see. Built in the 1200's on the site of a 1000's church! Architecture is fantastic. Guinness World record fact: Closest church to a pub ( one meter). And that pub has been there since 1790.

The Church is central to the Town. A haven of peace in the middle of a very busy town centre. When we visited there was a pianist playing in the centre of the cross aisles. It was magical. The church is built on a cruciform layout, and each leg of the cross has beautiful stained glass windows and carved statues, with many memorials dating back to the years when the Island was essentially a farming community with close links to France.

Spent a couple of hours wandering around St. Peter port , the church had a service going on and then a celebration meal outside in the street like a street party , looked wonderful! Couldn’t get inside but very nice looking building and stained glass windows , maybe next time we will get to see inside
