We arrived in the mist. The gardens were lovely and very inspirational. The whole location has an aura of calm. We chatted with a happy entertaining monk who told us about the Abbey which was very interesting. On leaving the Abbey the mist had lifted...More

Stopped at Buckfast abbey after visiting Dartmore. Lovely grounds and abbey gardens looked very nice too. Large cafe with plenty of choice, plenty of parking space and free.

This is a wonderful place to visit. Fantastic architecture (the Abbey was re-built in the mid-20th century), beautiful stained glass, lovely gardens. It is also peaceful. Well worth attending one of the daily services to hear the monks sing. And it's all free!

There is no such thing. There are wafers with minimal wheat but communion wafers MUST contain some wheat. You’d need to make a special request before Mass to one of the attentants.
