Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the very picturesque Dartmeet , with its bridge dating from 1792, for a short break on a long journey. Dartmeeet is the meeting point of two major tributaries of the River Dart and sits at the centre of an important archaeological landscape (which includes one the finest prehistoric field systems in Europe).

Just to the side of the road bridge is a popular launch spot with The Chalet café serving, amongst other things locally roasted coffee and locally made ice-cream

Car parking is £3 for up to 3 hours – motorcycles park for free.

We revisited here yesterday and after walking the dog around for 20 minutes, we sat in the car and listened to just how peaceful the place was.
We saw plenty of people arriving to take part in various water activities.
There are toilets on site and a small cafe which was, yet again, closed.
This entire area is beautiful and well worth a few hours of anyone's time.
Visited October 21st 2023.

The car park is £3 and camping/camper vans is strictly forbidden.

This has really changed since 2016. Used to be a lovely spot to park the car and sit by the river.
Car park charges are really expensive. The small coffee hut which serves ice lollies is also a little expensive for what you get.

Won't be back.

My wife and I visited with our grandchildren for the first time since lockdown. The car park charges are £3.00 for the day, okay, I accept that BUT there are NO RUBBISH bins anywhere, so people are tempted to dump their rubbish wherever they want. The young lady accepted our waste from our meals purchased at the cafe there - she was great. The toilets were not very clean and the washer/drier didn't work. Badgers Halt used to be a great little restaurant and shop - a place to go to but now it's only open for weddings etc. so the main attraction (for grandchildren) is no longer attractive. yes it's pretty (trees, river, boulders to clamber over) but I won't go again.

We went to the dartmeet Hotel today, mainly to check it out, because my girlfriends daughter has to be a bridesmaid there in a few weeks time
Wow, such an excellent place, and yes it is wheelchair accessible, and the menu looked amazing, just imagine how good it was to sit down and hear the river burbling and the wildlife just moving around the grounds, and yes I was impressed with the service and the staff, who are very keen to help the customer

This is a wonderful area - easy to get to and very pictureresque ith wonderful walks in all directions - some long and some short depending on your fitness levels. There is loads of parking with when its open a small cafe selling drinks, ice creams etc. You could easily spend a day here.

This was truly a special place - we’ve never seen a prettier bridge in the heart of a rustic national park.

We drove from Ashburton up through Dartmoor to reach Dartmeet. The roads are windy and narrow in places, but fine if you take them with care.
The car park costs £2. The walks are very picturesque. There are stepping stones over the river, which are great fun if you take care. Well worth a visit.
