Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a wonderful day out. I have lived in Devon for 15 years and he showed me so many places that I had never visited and told me tales I had never heard. We were a party of 5, 3 of which kids aged 7-10, Tich pitched it just right for the whole party. Everyone got a lot out of it. Thank you.

An excellent day out for our first visit to Dartmoor. 3 Adults and 3 children fitted comfortably in the Land Rover along with Tich. His wealth of local knowledge and sense of humour made our day. We were out over 7 hours with a stop for lunch. The children 2 aged 14 and one 10 year old loved every minute as Tich tailored the tour to involve them. A big thank you and we are looking forward to our next visit.

Tich and his landrover can take 6 of you on a magical mystery tour of Dartmoor, covering off its history and, in our case, several of its finest historic pubs. Even for the more local amongst us, we ended up seeing places - often close to home - that we hadn't uncovered in over 10 years of living here! Lunch in the Carpenters at Ilsington was fantastic, as were the subsequent stop offs at the Rugglestone, the Old Inn and the Warren House Inn.
Throughout the day, our guide keeping us ably informed about the history of the moor and many of the characters who used to, and still do, frequent it!
I'd highly recommend, am already looking to book the next one!

Thank you Tich for a really excellent tour! I had a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable day. All of the insights were interesting and factual and around every corner there seemed to be something of interest to discuss and learn about. I particularly enjoyed visiting the Bronze Age settlement, which is a very special place.
I was luck enough to be staying at the Elvan Sheperds Hut in Throwleigh; which i would also recommend to anybody who wants to experience a relaxing trip to Dartmoor.
I would highly recommend a tour with Tich! It has everything you could want and more and to book in at the beginning of a visit to Dartmoor would provide a much better idea of the area and what there is available to explore.
Thanks Tich for your generosity and hospitality. I hope to see you again soon.
Best wishes,
Tom

Brought as a birthday present for my dad, even though we live on dartmoor my dad and friends went to places they had never been. Had a brilliant time and would do it again!
Tich was a brilliant host/driver and told brilliant history stories - of some they were able to relate to from family history.

We had a day out with Tich and some friends over from Holland. What a fantastic way to explore the moor. It seems there isn't much of Dartmoor which Tich hasn't explored, and he gives so much fascinating background and local stories as you travel around. He is such fun too, and a wonderfully kind and generous host. I cant recommend him highly enough.

We recently moved to Dartmoor and thought we would get to know the area by taking a tour with a local guide, we found Tich’s ‘Proper Dartmoor Tours’ leaflet in a local pub and then as if by Fate ended up chatting to Him at the local petrol station.
Tich is an absolute gentleman, who has an unquestionable knowledge of Dartmoor and the local areas. He picked us up from home and took us out across the moors, showing us a number of spots That he recommended we go back to explore across the seasons, he shared lots of knowledge about the history of the area right back into the Bronze Age and also introduced us to a number of local businesses and artists. The day spent with Tich was really informative and enjoyable, he has a rich history in the local area and is able to trace his family back many generations. We feel absolutely honoured to have met Tich, you don’t meet people like this very often in our world. A proper Devonian giving Proper tours.
If your thinking about it then Forget the rest, go with the best and have a Proper Dartmoor Tour

One of the best ways to explore Dartmoor is to take a tour with Tich. Tich’s family have been on Dartmoor for hundreds of years and he knows the moor like the back of his hand and most of its inhabitants too. Tich will tailor the tour to suit your party; pubs, stops, mini walks, landmarks, villages, churches, little known spots and tors. Dog friendly.
I just had a wonderful 60th birthday tour and Tich was a great sport in helping with a surprise for me. He’s an excellent storyteller and a goldmine of myths and legends of the moor such as the "hairy hands"!!!

We had a wonderful day out with Tich to celebrate my dad's 60th. As a tractor nerd he was in his element chatting to Tich in the front seat of the Defender, bouncing across moors and through little lanes.
Starting from Bovey Tracey, our tour covered almost 60 miles around Southern Dartmoor. We learnt a lot about how Dartmoor has evolved over the years and the challenges communities are currently facing, some mystical legends and where to find some good pubs!
The day flew by with a pitstop at the Rugglestone for lunch and my whole family had a lovely day. Pack yourself and thermos and enjoy the trip with a local expert!
Only problem now is I need to book a further three tours as I want the same experience across the whole moor, and Dartmoor is massive...
