- PandamedicLichfield, United Kingdom5,614 contributionsNot buggy friendly past groyne 3We decided to stop at this beach as we were passing and it was a sunny day,. Parking was easy and plenty of it. It's just a short walk to the beach and the path is hard under foot which is great if you have pushchairs, beach buggies etc. There is a dog friendly section of the beach which is great. It's between groyne 3 to 9. This is where there is an issue if you have a pushchair or buggy and a dog like we did. Once past groyne 3, the concrete path now becomes a sand dune path. Which is ok to walk on, but seriously not pushchair or buggy friendly. Even our beach trolley with big wide wheels struggled on the sand dune path making it very hard work to pull along and then having to carry it down the stairs to the beach. It is wasn't for this i would have rated this beach higher.Visited August 2022Written 11 January 2023
- LouiseExeter, United Kingdom62 contributionsOne of my favouritesDawlish warren beach is one of my favourites to visit in the area - it's flat making it an easy walk round in the summer months with plenty of views to take in. There is also the boathouse restaurant, quite a large amusement section and an area with rides for kids (and big kids, like me). My partner and I went on the go karts which was great fun! There are also beach huts available.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 May 2023
- nikkij3662 contributionsDawlish beachesLoved the beaches, just need to be aware of high tide times cos the beaches disappear. Shipyard pub and Monterrey Jack's shack are great places to have a pint and great food. Recommend the cheesy chips and the nachos.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 19 June 2023
- moaningcow76155 contributionsBeautiful, family friendly beach. We have visited this beach many, many times. It's a beautiful beach, well looked after. There are lots of bins and benches, along the side. There are attentive lifeguards on duty. There are toilets and food establishments close to the beach. The only negative point on this visit was that the beach is clearly marked which sections are dog friendly and which are not. People were ignoring these signs and had dogs on the dog free sections of the beach, there's no one to enforce these rules.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 July 2023
- psonandon49 contributionsNice beach word of warning about Go-KartsBeach was nice but due to weather only able to use it a couple of times. Small zone for swimming monitored closely by life guards. Better signage is needed in respect of where dogs can and can't go. Easy walk along sea wall to Dawlish. Lovely cycle route to Exeter and Exmouth. Some of our group hired bikes and dog carrier. We used ferry for crossing, which for 4 adults, 3 kids, 1 dog, 7 bikes and a dog trailer was quite pricy at £43. Some nice pubs on route we stopped at the Puffing Billy Exton which was lovely. We had fun on go karts, however I would advise people to be cautious when riding them. The web site says that full instructions are given, this is not the case. There is no age restriction, but there is a height restriction of 4ft 8", so you have young children in charge of single go karts from the age of 9-10yrs who have no knowledge of driving and are not even advised which is the accelerator or break pedal. If there is a bump on the course there is a cut out switch operated by marshals, however, these do not seem to cut the speed of all the karts. There is no flag or alarm system to alert you to an obstruction on the course or to alert you that the race is ending. The race is ended by a marshal opening a barrier, just after a sharp right hand bend, reducing the course from 3 go kart width and funnelling into a one go kart width. There were a number of accidents at this point due to people not being able to slow down in time and getting jammed. Some simple tweaks would improve the experience and safety of all.Visited July 2023Written 10 August 2023
- LeeHaverhill, United Kingdom45 contributionsLovely beach for families, it has it all!In our opinion it was the nicest beach we visited during our stay in Devon. There is everything you could wish for, toilets, good doughnuts, hire shops and stores. There is also a small theme park for smaller children that we didn't visit. We had a great day at the beach. Parking was easy, massive car park, only danger is the tiny road under the bridge that you share with pedestrians to access the car park. Overall, a great day.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 26 August 2023
- ARNOLD W8 contributionsNice beach, worth a lookBlue flag beach that is clean and lots to do in the area. I do find the amusements to be a bit tacky but I suppose this place attracts families. I loved the walk in the dunes and all the nature was beautiful. The view across to Exmouth cannot be beaten, and worth the walk for sure. It is pretty clean and lots of bins, but wish people would control their dogs more.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 August 2023

There is a pub at the top of the beach, beach huts and lots of food outlets. There were amusement arcade machines and a fun fair with go karting. I loved the long walk down the dunes and nature reserve. It was very pretty and well kept.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 August 2023

If you want it to be quieter and more sandy it's best to walk further along the beach, it's much nicer than it looks at first! Lots of places to eat, amusements etc nearby so great for family especially but friends too. Big waves that are great for cooling off and overall I loved it.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 September 2023

Great beach, and lots of nice pubs and places to eat. The amusements are good for kids, and I love looking out to sea. The beach is not littered so the staff do a nice job, and the beach huts are super cute. We go to the Warren for lots of holidays as it is one of my favourite holiday places. The sand is golden and I like having a paddle here.

Lovely beach with incredibly clean and tidy surrounds. Beach is sectioned off with no dog zones and lifeguard zones which is great.

With the tide out this is a fantastic beach to let your dog run around, go for a swim and play with other dogs. You must observe the parts that are open to dogs during the summer.

What is cost for beach hut at dawlish warren for week

Sorry for the delay in responding. There are a few beach huts there but I think at a premium and probably self owned. I have not needed to enquire but think at this time of year the season is about to end.

Are there any boats or paddle boards to hire?

Hi,
I don't think so, but I didn't look out for that.
I can recommend Saddles & Paddles, in Exeter, beautiful canoeing down the canal.

Hi, sorry, as we don't have a dog I didn't pay attention to that. But the beach was dog free, where we walked.
Are the train coaches ready for hire

Yes they are, I was talking to the guy working at the minigolf. They look quite cool too!

Is it easy to park with a motor home please? It’s not a massive vehicle, but normal car park spaces are usually a bit on the tight side.

Just after the tunnel to the beach carpark satellite view shows what looks like a refreshment kiosk or cafe on the left? Does anyone know if it is a cafe? If so what is it called?
(Thinking of meeting some friends there, who are breaking their train journey for a quick meet up.) Many thanks.

We met my wife's cousin in 'The Boat House' its a bar / restaurant a lot like wetherspoons. the food and service was really good, I did post pictures on my posting at the time.
How accessible and what are the facilities like for a wheelchair users?
Paul Nicholson
Potsdam, Germany41 contributions
I'd say it's very good for wheelchair users, very flat, for food and shopping, plus watching the fun rides, but getting down to the beach I didn't pay attention.
