We really enjoyed our visit. Simon gave a detailed and informative account of how sparkling wine is made and was happy to answer all our questions. The tour was followed by a delicious cream tea with a glass of the wine with a chance to chat to the other attendees.

We have a lovely afternoon. Delicious cream tea, fabulous chocolates and superb drinks but we were travelling in a 6 metre motorhome. I checked before hand if this was ok and was told confidently it was perfectly fine. Well….. we got there and back but would not recommend if you treasure your wing mirrors or worry about branches ripping off your aerial. Even the track getting to the car park is tight and you can hear the bushes scraping the sides. Very narrow lanes no matter which way you approach and luckily we didn’t meet any cars in the opposite direction as no passing places for a mile or so. The worry getting there and then knowing you have to do it again to get home took the shine off for us.

We enjoyed a very informative tour of the winery and the vineyard and then sampled their excellent sparkling wine. We also had the best cream tea on our holiday. Highly recommended.

Lovely afternoon spent at Wellhayes Vineyard. Such a friendly welcome from Simon who made the challenges of producing English sparkling wine sound both exhilarating and exhausting. The cream tea, wine tasting and chocolates were all delicious and the whole experience on a sunny September afternoon was relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.

Wellhayes Vineyard is a working vine grower and wine producer. They also make fizz, brandy and chocolates.
Unlike most vineyards they also offer concerts! There are usually about a half-dozen performances in the warmer seasons. Music is mostly classical: instrumental or choral. It's an opportunity to meet young performers before they become famous.

A delightful afternoon! Simon was the perfect guide, taking us through the process of wine making, as well as the story of the vineyard, which was fascinating. Wine tasting and cream tea afterwards was lovely, especially the champagne chocolates!

We had a super visit to Wellhayes Vineyard. Simon took us through the whole process of sparkling wine production and it was fascinating. It was lovely to see his passion and to learn about just how labour intensive the whole process is! All topped off with a delicious cream tea, luxury chocolates and a glass of their rather lovely fizz; what’s not to like! Definitely worth a visit!

A thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours. Simon led the tour and was quite frank and honest about the challenges he and his wife had setting up & developing the vineyard. We benefitted from a warm September afternoon for the tour, so no need for wellies & macs. The session was rounded off with an excellent cream tea & wine tasting.

The local road network is quite challenging (tight B roads) so allow a few extra minutes on your journey time. Also, the vineyard is not well signposted at the moment but surely will soon become a significant local tourist attraction, worthy of those nice brown road signs.
