Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A good day out with three generations, we all had a good time and enjoyed the various aspects of the attraction. The halloween trail was particularly good!

We had a bit of time to spare so popped in on spec. This is definitely a place for children, not a couple of adults. We were disappointed but the kids we saw seemed to be enjoying it.

We live locally and have a season ticket. I don't necessarily see the attraction, but my toddler asks to go everyday. The play carriages are his favourite, but they have so much to do.
The carriages get very hot in the summer but other than that I can't fault it.

This is a very nice place to visit although the car park is quite small and there is a bridge when you first get there that is single track but if you can find a space to park it’s all good.
There is a lot to do but it is mostly set up for children younger than 10 years old.
The model railways are great and interactive with buttons to press and are very good.
There is a nice crazy golf for free which is made with old parts of trains and tunnels.
There are cars and a train to drive but these cost 50p and £1 a go.
The miniature ride on train and the narrow gauge train are nice long rides through the gnomes villages and to the picnic area that has a nice play area also.
There is a tea room but is quite small but lots of benches outside.
There is also a small play area and indoor play barn.
On the whole a nice time but we did everything in 3 hours but we could have spent more time there if we had the time.
We basically went there to break up the journey before we got to our cottage. So it was very nice for that.

What a fantastic day! Even better than it looked on the leaflet! We went with our 2 year old and nearly 5 year old. They and we loved everything... The miniature railway, the train, the play carriages, the soft play, the model railways, the play grounds, the crazy golf! The model railways are great! They are interactive whereby you press a button to make the models move- our 2 year old couldn't get enough and we almost had to drag him away! The play carriages are fab with toy trains, cars, a sand pit and ball pit. The soft play has a great slide! The food is also really nice. Our gluten and dairy free son was catered for with a special lunch bag.
I honestly can't recommend this enough.

Wow! What a lovely review. Thank you. This sort of feed back is really motivating and can raise tired spirits after a busy day! We are so pleased you had a great time with us and you enjoyed our gluten free and dairy free options in our tea rooms.

We had been to the railway centre many times before and always had a great time; as the weather was looking ok we decided on a visit. We picked up a discount card at our local supermarket that offered £1 off per person in our party, but even so i think the entry fee is very reasonable - we arrived at 10.30am and didn't leave until 4.30pm. There is a car park next to the site but also down a small lane under the bridge. Staff were friendly. In the morning there seemed to be a steady stream of people coming in but the site didn't feel crowded at all. We rode both trains a couple of times and also had some food in the picnic area; look out for the ducks there. My children have always loved the play carriages, we spent hours in them. My suggestion for here though would be some more comfortable seating for adults, perhaps a few chairs in the area where the party
room use to be. We had a great time and will no doubt visit again in the near future.

Thanks for your 5 star review and I am so pleased to read you have been to the Railway Centre many times. Thanks also for your suggestions with regard to seating in the play coaches. It is something we will review over the Winter when we are closed. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

We’ve been visiting this place a few times over the years (lucky enough to have friends who live nearby) and it’s always a bit of a delight to come to. Having not been in a couple of years now though we were pleasantly surprised by the new additions! Especially the kids drive your own train, cars and bumper carts, my son did the train three times!
Thoughtful touches like the stools to help see the miniature railways were nice to see. The newly converted carriages with play scenes and the giant ball pool were a big hit too.
Staff were welcoming and clearly enjoying the nice weather for a change.
Definitely worth the slight increase in entry price!

Thank you for your lovely review and I am so pleased you enjoyed all our facilities. Some of the additions that you mention are new but others may not have been open if you previously visited during Covid as we were restricted in the attractions we could offer. It is great to be able to offer a full range of activities to our visitors again.
We look forward to seeing you again soon!

While noticeably oriented towards the smaller ones, it doesn't mean that you, as an adult, won't get to enjoy going on the different train tracks they have available and also appreciate the multitude of scale models they have on display, both outside with a fantasy as well as a more reality based model villages, and inside, with several model railway dioramas.

This has remained one of our four year olds favourite places since his first visit at 2 years old.
The model railways are great and so intricate, the indoor play carriages and soft play are great, nice little outdoor play area and cafe, pretty picnic spot and of course the train rides! Great for either a sunny or a rainy day. We have a season pass and it has been great value.
Also just to add - possibly the friendliest, kindest staff of anywhere we’ve taken the kids. Highly recommend!

Wow wow wow wow wow. What a lovely day out for what we thought was a small sum of money. Most places would charge you for entry and use of activities. A must do if in the area, kids loved it and the thought and design that has gone into the models is outstanding. Such a lovely place and well worth the visit. Would absolutely recommend. Thank you DRC for a lovely day.

Is this a good place to visit if the weather is showery?
It is ok because much of it is indoors or under cover. The model railways are in former Mk1 standard gauge carriages; running trains are the narrow gauge steam railway (with covered coaches) and miniature. The odd shower will really hardly affect anything, especially if you take a brolly. And you can park very nearby too.

How much does it cost for 2 adults and 4 children
Matthew G
Exeter, UK
2 adults and 3 children can come in on a family ticket, costing £28.20 and then you will pay £6.90 for the extra child (assuming all the children are over 3 years old). Under 3s are free.
