Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great evening at the Whimple Wassail. Held every year on 17th January and really good fun. We followed the band and the crowd as we processed through several Whimple orchards. Finished at the Cricket Club for a pasty, a pint and a sing along with Jim Causley.

Lovely small museum run by local volunteers who make you feel really welcome. Have been before but now more going on for children - table map of the village with cars etc for youngsters and an interesting quiz for older children. Highly recommend for a FREE day out. Nice pub for lunch nearby.

The Whimple Heritage Centre is a really professional and interesting place. Set in the heart of a picturesque village about 10 miles east of Exeter just off the A30. It has lots of information and artefacts in particular cider making, but also on general village life and when I visited there was a really good First World War display .

It is run by very helpful volunteers who will also carry out specific research for you on anything related to the area or people who lived there. There are lots of models to keep children interested including Muffin the Mule who 'retired' to the village for a while.

Some great gifts to buy including home made preserves and locally brewed ales and of cider. An added bonus is that it is right next to a traditional village pub - The New Fountain. There is free parking and it is open April to October - Saturdays and Bank Holiday Mondays and Wednesday afternoons. Admission free but donations welcome and well deserved - I will return!

Basically two and a half rooms, full of information. Full marks for the volunteers who run it (and do not charge an admission fee). Interesting village as the home of the old Whiteways cider factory and full of history. Located in grounds of Fountain Inn (very reasonably priced food). Well worth a visit and a wander around the village.

We visited the Heritage Centre whilst visiting friends in Whimple. It gives a nice history of the village and the Whiteway's Cider factory. It's conveniently placed in the pub car park which is in the centre of the village. Worth a visit if you're in whimple.

We popped into the heritage centre as we had been told it was worth a visit by our host. We were not disappointed. A small old refurbished building in the car park of alone of the village pub was like a tardis! Full of artefacts, it was a very interesting museum with a friendly helpful guide when we wanted more info. The history of the famous white ways cider factory was very interesting, local crafts for sale, old and new school photos. So much info about the village presented in a very professional way. All compiled and maintained by the villagers. No entrance fee just donations. It was sweet and a surprising find.

I have now visited twice, the opening times are seasonal and limited, (Wednesday and Saturdays) so best to check, but worth a visit if you are in the area. It is conveniently located behind the car park of the New Fountain Inn, which was busy serving lunchtime food both times I was there. The volunteers I have met have all been enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area and its history. There are two rooms here, the first holds information on village history, including the railway which I was interested in. The second room contains much information and artifacts from Whiteways Cider who were formerly located in the village.
