An overnight stay In this delightful village , sadly split in two by traffic , afforded a very welcoming venue for a delicious , freshly cooked meal . A good selection of ' the catch of the day ' was presented in an attractive and original way .. The cooking was very good and the service likewise : crispy whitebait... More

I visited the George Inn three separate times whilst staying at the Golden Cap Holiday Park in my touring caravan (a ten minute walk). My first visit was for a quick lunchtime beer ... 🍺 Second visit was with my family for an early evening meal🍴 The food was superb ... we had the burgers & a pie from the... More

Came here whilst on holiday on the recommendation of a friend. What a place. Gorgeous pub, lovely and very friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble including alternative veg to accompany dinner. The meal was awesome. Homemade chicken, ham and leek pie was to die for - not just the usual mock pie in a bowl with pastry... More

After a lovely walk at the nearby Langdon woods, we stubbled across this pub on the main road and thought we would give it a try. We were very pleasantly surprised. As a party of 5 with 3 dogs we sat in the nice enclosed garden with dog bowls available. Two of our party opted for the fish goujon sandwiches,... More

I had ham, eggs and chips and my husband had fish , chips, peas. Fish was flakey and perfectly cooked, moist and tasty. Ham was thick, juicy, lots if it, eggs cooked to perfection, as were the crispy chips with lovely centres. Can't fault, would return any day.

We visited the George for a family birthday lunch on Sunday. With 24 of us we pre booked and pre ordered the food. When we arrived, we were made very welcome and a whole section on the restaurant was reserved. The all the correct dishes were served in good time and without anyone having to wait. The standard of the... More

Good beer, good food, good service. Best ploughman's I've ever had. Similar comments from the group we were in, very well run, good atmosphere and very good access for all. Tables are large and plenty of room for large parties. Clean and good location except for the road near the front but it is what it is. Loads of great... More

Well done to the George! This place is ideal for us as a pit stop on our way from Hampshire to Cornwall and we have visited several times in the past due to good food, friendly staff and decent car parking. This time though we were treated by a very sympathetic refurbishment of the interior, smart new bar, excellent coffee... More

Located right on the A35 this pub has an excellent menu that is very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit on your way to the West Country.
