I was recently treated to a visit and a film at the excellent REX cinema in Wareham, Dorset. A little gem offering an attractive and beautiful interior, comfortable seats, refreshments and a wide range of films!

I would recommend that anyone in the area take the time to watch a film - any film - here so that you can enjoy the way this cinema has been lovingly restored. By happy accident, we were treated to a private trip around it and were able to see for ourselves the enthusiasm and dedication of the people who continue to make it a local gem. Whilst, as you would expect, the film show itself is standard, there are enough quirky and fun additions that make it a very individual experience. Go and enjoy!

We love this cinema so much, we have just been two nights in a row!. We don’t live in the area but frequently visit. It has a lovely ambiance, isn’t expensive and is run by a lovely group of passionate volunteers. If you are in the area it’s an experience you shouldn’t miss. It’s the perfect blend of nostalgia and modern technology

Such an old fashioned gem.. The walls are covered in old movie posters, it gives a real feeling of the past.
Delightful service from the staff.
You can buy a drink in the bar and take it with you into the screen room. The seating is slightly sloped with plenty of legroom, not original scratchy seats but comfy.
We thought that the local adverts with the stop motion models of the business owners etc including the cinema staff were very amusing, never seen anything like that, so quirky.

Oddly for a review we didn't actually visit the Rex to see a film but only as we didn't have enough time but, despite this, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff to come in and take a look. A stunning 1920s cinema that absolutely exudes charm and character and yet has a thoroughly modern projection sustem. Super friendly and enthusiastic staff. If we visit for longer we'll make a point of popping in for a film. Do go.
