- DamerchildFerndown, United Kingdom49 contributionsDishonestExtremely annoyed with this place. We booked afternoon tea on Mother’s Day when we arrived we were told that we had to an entry fee of £7.50 each. This had not been told to us when we booked. The guy on the gate said ‘oh you weren’t told either that you had to pay entry’ which was in addition to the tea. I have sent them emails but had no response we feel we have been scammed.Written 28 March 2023
- W EPortsmouth, United Kingdom10 contributionsLovely placeWhat a lovely place. We went in March so would love to come back when the azaleas etc are in bloom. Nice peaceful scenic place with deer and lots of birds, also a fairy trail! Good value too.Thank you so much for your kind review - we hope to see you again soon.Written 7 June 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2023Written 29 May 2023
- Michelle R5 contributionsLovely place but unfriendly staff in cafe!Blue pool is an absolutely beautiful place to visit and so serene and peaceful. But the reason why I only gave it 3 stars is because the two older ladies who were serving in the restaurant were very rude, unhelpful and not welcoming at all. The menu was extremely limited and my son was unable to have any lunch so only had crisps. No customer service skills at all, blue pool as a place is well worth visiting, just don’t go in the cafe if the two older ladies are in there.Hi Michelle - delighted as I am that you visited The Blue Pool, I am so sorry to hear that your visit to the Tearooms was an unhappy one. Clearly this falls well below the standard that we set ourselves, I can only apologies, hope that you will forgive us and give us another try sometime soon.Written 12 September 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 August 2023
- richard p1 contributionSo disappointing! We have been going to visit Blue Pool for many many years, however our recent visit was a big disappointment. The Pool its self never changes and is beautiful but previously (under the old management) we were welcomed as senior citizens with a reduced price entry fee and a free carer's ticket - not this time. Full price and no consideration given for disabled chair users. As for the tea room don't bother if you want a peaceful cupper - music blaring away and when we asked if it was necessary we were ignored. Prices are now unreasonable for what you would expect. Totally now just a business to milk every penny they can from the visitors. As one of Dorset's major attractions they need to be more visitor focused and a lot more friendly. Would not recommend in future to any of our friends.Dear Richard - I am sorry that you were unhappy with your visit. The prices at The Blue Pool were reduced briefly during COVID due to the lack of indoor facilities at that time. Since 2023 the prices have returned once more to pre-pandemic levels and NO higher, they have been the same for perhaps 20 years. We have endeavoured to keep the prices as low as possible despite ever increasing costs to us as a business and significant and much needed investment in the site. Unfortunately I cannot agree that Senior Citizens should be offered a discount, growing asset prices are making wealth less attainable for the young, we therefore do not seek to differentiate. If however there is a disabled user then the person on the gate has discretion. I know you spoke with my wife regarding the music - Julie most certainly did not ignore you, she sought to explain that many prefer to have some background music. The music can only be heard around the tearooms and, if peace and quiet is sought, one need only wander to the other side of the terrace for silence. We hope you visit again.Written 12 September 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 August 2023
- James A715 contributionslovely walkwalk was lovely, it is not a difficult walk and for once dogs were on there leads. it is very peaceful. we went on a downcast day so pool was a shade of green. would not rush back but glad we went. there are good facilities there but the food was a let down. lunch stops at 2.30, cakes were a disappointment staff were friendlyVisited August 2023Written 14 August 2023
- MelaniePortsmouth, United Kingdom1 contributionDisappointing return visitVery disappointed. We last visited this beautiful blue pool 42 years ago whilst on our honeymoon. Yesterday's visit was a great disappointment. First we couldn't get out of the field car park without going under/over a rope. Admission charge of £7.50 per adult, no concessions, commercialised with fairy doors/trails and the pool itself was a dull green. I appreciate it might have looked blue under a blue sky but we felt the admission charge was too much. The "tea room" and gift shop were open but the possibility of buying just a soft drink was impossible without joining a queue out of the door for the tearoom. The exit route is over a partly unmade road with deep potholes. We regretted spoiling our memories of our honeymoon visit. It was a bright vibrant pool in a natural setting back then. Now it is a commercialised money spinner.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 August 2023
- Kerry MChelmsford, United Kingdom19 contributionsBeautiful pace on a scorching hot xay5Visited on one of the hottest days in September hoping for some shade. We certainly found that and much more. From a friendly greeting at the ticket office, we walked round the pool twice with several diversions to see other parts. Eg the viewpoint towards Corfe castle. We enjoyed lunch at the twa rooms which was staffed by more friendly staff, and the rooms inside the tearoom are decorated prettily in keeping with the woodlands. It was relatively cool too. The ice cream parlour had to be visited and serves delicious Purbeck ice cream. We then walked round again on slightly different paths and even spotted 4 deer this time. There were trails for children too. We took many photos and the colours of the pool change through the day. We loved our visit and would return next time in the area. Someone mentioned potholes on the roads but they weren't as bad as we've experienced in our local area!Dear Kerry - thank you for your kind review, we are delighted you enjoyed your visit. The exit road is indeed in need of improvement, not a quick fix unfortunately but it's on the radar! We hope to see you again soon.Written 12 September 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 September 2023
- Kevin M5 contributionsExpensive admission and poor cafeWe were looking forward to our visit to the Blue Pool, but were taken aback with the admission fee of £7.50 each, plus an optional £2 suggestion for parking our car. The gardens and Blue Pool are nice though and it is clear that a lot of effort goes into keeping everything neat and tidy. We arrived at 10.30am and were surprised to see the gift shop and ice cream shop were shut. Eventually the gift shop did open, but the ice cream shop remained closed. The cafe looked nice, so we went in and ordered 2 breakfasts and a pot of tea for two around 11:45am. On receiving our breakfasts we saw that the bread had mould on the crust and was dry and stale. The fried eggs appeared to have been made hours earlier in the day and were rubbery. It was also a very small breakfast for £10.25 and we didn't think the quality was good at all, especially at that price. The pot of tea for two cost £2.95 each and the pots are too small. Customers should be given an extra pot of hot water if they want one - £5.90 for a small cup of tea each is not good enough.Dear Kevin and Julie Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. I would like to make the following observations if I may please; Entry prices are indeed £7.50 for Adults / £3.75 for Children and under 5's are free. The Car Park fee is voluntary. "A great deal of effort goes into keeping everything tidy"...it does indeed - with Minimum Wage set to increase again next year (and having risen by approx 15% over the last 24 months) such high inflation and high cost of late, the Entrance Fee is a low as we can go whilst still maintaining the attractions. At this time of year the Gift Shop opens a little later at 11.00. Occasionally, if a member of staff needs to 'nip out' then there should have been a sign on the doors saying 'Please ask in the Tearooms' - so sorry if there was not. Breakfast - indeed the cost is £10.25 for a Full English, the eggs are made to order but I am mortified that there was mould on your bread. I am so terribly sorry. Tea - £2.95 for a pot of Tea for one which is usually sufficient for two cups - additional 'hot water' is Free and of course available, anyone need only ask and we will top you up, no problem. Thanks again for the review and we hope to see you again.Written 19 October 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 September 2023

- AlphasemBournemouth, United Kingdom70 contributionsStunning place but with recommendations. The place is amazing even on a wet season but surely this can be busy during summertime, the entrance fee is reasonable but I think the management should consider the concessions for students and senior citizens even for fraction of 10% or a family price so it’s not too dear for struggling families that can still relax, enjoy the scenery and have a good time making memories at this stunning place . I would recommend for the play area to consider putting up more wooden play pens and structures for all ages of children as there are plenty of spaces where these structures can be built, the treehouse is a very good idea but since it was a private area for the booked guests , then it was just a “ For your eyes only “ structure for other visitors, it would be nice to have something like that for the children to enjoy as 90% of children of this country , don’t have like that at their back gardens. I suggest if the management can built more table areas for picnics and benches for the weary and tired parents while kids have a good time exploring the forest and having adventures with friends and loved ones.in my own personal opinion , This is a very well worth visit if my recommendations and suggestions are met , and that’s why I rated 3 stars.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 13 November 2023

We haven’t visited for a while and picked a very wet and stormy weekend. However it was still a great visit. We enjoyed the Halloween trail particularly the witches who popped up every so often to try and scare us! We toasted marshmallows on the fire for £2 and there was pumpkin carving available. We were lucky enough to see the deer as well. Great trails and plenty to explore. Prices are reasonable too

Family visit with grandkids. They have gone to a lot of effort to make Halloween fun at Blue Pool.
Grandkids loved it. We followed the Halloween trail . They found a real witch hiding in the woods.
The fire and marshmallow cooking was fun in the café area £2 for 8 marshmallows sticks provided.
Would recommend this half term.

It is an absolute gem to go to have a lovely quiet walk around in the pine woods and the blue pool which was an old quarry was beautiful, which changes colours from blue to green at different times of the day and the sunshine.
The forest has lots of little fairy houses put in the trees, which were absolutely amazing. The children who were in front of us with their families were loving looking for these little fairy houses.

Stunning scenery especially on a sunny day when the water in the pool changes colour all the time. Lovely walk around the lake with plenty of places to sit and admire the view,. The cafe is very elegant and has very cheeky peacocks who will relieve you of your pastie in no time. Its the best place to sit and have a quiet coffee that I've been to for a long time.

This is a stunning feature surrounded by attractive woodland which contains a well maintained nature reserve & is well worth a good walk. Access to parts is a bit limited to the fit & mobile but that's the nature of the place. The only bad feature is the appallingly badly maintained and very long exit road which must damage many vehicles each year.
