Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Free entry. Staffed by volunteers A friendly little museum just off the main crossroads. Lots of local history Quizes for children and adults that can be filled in as you look round, for children and adults. Lots of general history facts as well as local ones. Well worth a visit.

This is a small museum, so 20-30 minutes is enough to walk round and take it in. However, it is nicely laid out, with interactive options for children, and gives a good overview of the town's history. It's manned by volunteers and the one on duty when we visited was very friendly, wanders round with us and added a lot to our enjoyment of the museum. It's free entry so no reason not to pop in.

had high hopes of the museum but was disappointed . Small museums can be great but felt the themes were disjointed. Asked the person at the desk whether there was a 'best route round' and was told no just go round anyway. there was an interesting exhibit about Lawrence of Arabia . would not spend long there. I think the museum has lost a chance to really engage people.

A local museum that does well on local issues and particularly the history of the area. Run by some very enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers. Very interesting section on china clay / potteries. But my eye was caught by the section on WW1, and the barracks with the nearby munitions factories / armament dumps, and POW camps.
Fascinating stuff.

We popped in because it was free. It's small and there's not much to see, so don't make a special trip to visit unless you've a great interest to T E Lawrence as there's a dedicated area/display about him. However, we enjoyed a quick browse around.

Small museum with no entrance fee. Local history of Wareham encompassing the great fire, clay mining, pottery and cordite production. Section devoted to T E Lawrence as he was resident in the area for a while. Whiled away an hour.

This little gem. Great dateline history plus finding that T E Lawrence spent his last ten years in Dorset.
If you prefer the minutiae of history over kings and queens which we were forced into at school then this is the one for you. It’s free but be generous in your donation as it deserves to remain open.
