More for children under 5’s
Apr 2021 • Family
Not a lot there to keep the whole family occupied for the day ok for a short visit but then doesn’t seem worth the money.

Thanks very much for your comments. The Model Town gardens including the miniature buildings and quiz trail, Wendy Street play are and Crazy Golf are now open. When government restrictions ease on 17 May, our model railway, exhibition room housing the WAREHAM BEARS and indoor tea room facilities will re-open. Currently our family ticket for two adults and two children is £20

very pleasant couple of hours
Sep 2020
Despite the restrictions imposed by Covid we were able to spend an interesting couple of hours in the village where great efforts have been made to ensure social distancing.
the village is very interesting and quite detailed.

Many thanks for your review we received during the winter shutdown. Similar social distancing measures are now in place with the miniature buildings and are gardens including Crazy Golf open to the public for the 2021 season

Excellent value and safe place to take a toddler
Oct 2020
excellent value and perfect for a toddler. very safe and well laid out with plenty of volunteers on hand.
Cakes and sausage rolls beautifully made and very clean loos.

the play area was perfect for our granddaughter.
One very small criticism is that the thomas the tank engine train was stuck at the back of the layout and wasn't working which was a big disappointment for her.
Otherwise a really good morning out.

Thank you for your thorough review and kind comments. Thomas is normally very obliging so we will talk to the railway maintenance team. We don't want him on a go slow.

Lovely place to take the kids
Sep 2020
No crowds (it being a schoolday) and we took 3yr old g-son out for our first visit. Amazing time, really nice people on hand to help and control (Covid). The model town is a creation of Wimborne in the 1950s and was full of interest. Shop windows have stock in them. Then there is also the model railway - a decent sized landscape indoors with several trains (inc Thomas, and an Underground service). Outdoors is a small but well presented play area for pre-schoolers. Crazy golf for a nominal charge to rent the equipment. Dolls House display. Modest cafe but the coffee was good and the cake (baked by the staff/owners) was lovely.
Can park opposite - £1 for 2 hours. Easy walk into the real town centre.

Thanks for sharing your review. We're very pleased to receive those five stars from you. A lot of input from our management and volunteers has gone into getting the Covid precautions in place - they seem to be working well

Lovely visit
Sep 2020 • Friends
I'm a manual wheelchair user and recently visited with a friend. We had a lovely time and went round twice. Very reasonably priced at £6 per adult and my friend was allowed in free of charge as my essential companion.

I found wheelchair access to be very good in general. The website does warn you that the narrowest streets aren't accessible, but the majority of those are currently closed to aid the one way system anyway. For the streets that you think your wheelchair might fit down but are actually too narrow, there are clear signs which say it's not a wheelchair accessible route - excellent!

There are gravel paths in the sensory garden, so best avoided if you're self propelling, but the rest is tarmac and easy to push on. Had some trouble accessing the toilets as the ramp is very steep, so I needed help with that, and also the accessible toilet has a very heavy door with an automatic closure on it, so I also needed that to be opened for me.

The ramps up to the railway room and dolls house exhibition are both fine, but both doors have a lip which you do need to do a small wheelie over.

Because of the one way system, access to the cafe is up a large step, but as I had someone with me she was able to go in and order for us, although a member of staff did offer to help me if needed.

Lunch was very tasty - including the best coffee cake I've ever tasted (and I have eaten a LOT of cake).

All in all, a lovely morning out.

This lovely model village is set in very nice gardens, also with cafe and toilets all prepared very well to cope with the Covid problems. A one way system has been organised through the model village and there is an outside seating area to pic-nic or food consumption from the cafe. There is also a small shop
We parked in the nearby Kings Car Park (paying) which is just across the road from the Model village. Well worth a visit.

Nice place to visit - more to do for children, not couples
Aug 2020 • Couples
Stopped here before going home from Bournemouth. Lovely little model town but if you don’t have small children with you (like us) it doesn’t take long to get round and there isn’t much to do. Plenty to do for children though and even though we weren’t there long, thought the adult entry fee of £6 was very reasonable.

Sunday Visit
Aug 2020
We took our 4 year old grandson to the model Town on Sunday he loved it especially that he could look ito the houses and see what was happening. His favourite part was the train hut where he could put his hand over sensors and make the trains go round. The young man in there was very helpful with our grandson and explained to him how the trains worked he even changed the engines to Thomas and Gordon much to our grandsons delight. We had a lovely coffee in the Tea room which is run by Steve and Joyce, i can honestly say you would not meet two nicer people, they where so nice and very kind to us made our day so than kyou both. If you dont know Wimborne this is a must so interesting and a lot of love goes into the care of the attraction.Go visit and see for yourselves.
