We were guests at a wedding here recently. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at the house. They made guests feel as welcome as the wedding party. Guides gave guests a tour around the beautiful house and furniture collection while the wedding party...More

It's open 365 days a year and free to roam. There are no 'Keep off the grass' notices! If you want to visit the fantastic walled garden the charge is a mere £3. Spicy parsnip soup was perfect. Friendly, helpful staff.

It was a choice between Boswell's Coach House cafe or Dumfries House cafe. Wrong choice! The place had the aroma of a school canteen, lighting was dim and depressing particularly in the Stables area. The hot food looked awful and extremely unappetising. I ordered a...More

We visited Dumfries House with our young grandchildren and family. The grounds are extensive, and if not visiting the house for a tour, everything is free, even the parking. There is so much there for children with attractive walks, adventure playgrounds, and an engineering section...More
