We were lucky to visit Preston Mill on one of the last days of the season. John, our guide, was very entertaining and as he had grown up in the village of East Linton, he was able to offer a very interesting history. The mill...More

My wife and I were holidaying in Dunbar to attend the Lammermuir Festival and enjoy sea walks, historic sites and local restaurants. We’re both Outlander fans, and had earmarked Preston Mill for a visit. What we didn’t expect was one of the most entertaining and...More
This is a very old flour mill but also one of the last to stop working - as late as the 1950s. Go when the National Trust for Scotland site is open. Apart from a very interesting and entertaining tour of 30-45 minutes there are...More

We had a very interesting and informative visit to this lovely old building. We were taken on an individual tour by Alastair who was very knowledgeable about the site and the workings of the mill. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Saramaddalena, the inside of the exhibit hall was used in Outlander, too. The docent was particularly helpful in pointing out where they filmed and there were pictures in the exhibit of some of the filming. Besides the mill, the grasslands beyond it were also used. It's a pretty place all on its own, too.
