My favourite day out!
Third time we have been on the May landing trip and it's always a joy. The boat is really well equipped, nice wee snack bar and clean loos. The crew are great to chat to, especially Billy and Robert as they have loads of information and stories and their knowledge of the island , the wildlife and the working of the lighthouses generators and machinery used by the lighthouse keepers was fascinating.
The captain gives an interesting commentary and always points out any marine life. We have seen porpoises, a minky whale, a peregrine falcon and many different seabirds. The island is beautiful with stunning views and lots of places to explore or have a picnic.
We went on doors open day so to access the buildings was brilliant.
Also went on the last sailing and we were able to access some of the buildings again.
We haven't managed to see the puffins yet but were delighted to see the 1st baby seal on the beach with its mum.
I only wish we could spend longer on the island as we still have areas to explore.
Can't wait to go back next year!

A wonderful experience with Anstruther Pleasure Cruises once again. Was their for the Isle of May Open Weekend. Lots of great things to see on along the way. The Skipper and Crew are excellent. Very informative and take great care and safety of all onboard. Facilities onboard are good. Toilets are well maintained. and the refreshments area also. A very popular experience. Best to book in advance.

We had a great a day absolutely loved it and will definitely be back next year a little earlier in the season before the puffins leave. The staff were so nice, shout out to Billy who was a wealth of knowledge. Him and Robert were so good with out toddler who also had a great day. The whole crew were friendly and out us at ease. Loved the boat trip and the time on the island. We had a lovely picnic. Thanks so much, can't wait to do it again.

Captain Alex, and brothers Billy and Robert, gave us the most wonderful tour on the May Princess out to the Isle of May. Two couples joined 48 others on a comfortable and leisurely cruise—in perfect weather and seas—to the Isle of May.

There are two options for seating—up high behind the wheelhouse for those who wish to sea more and enjoy panoramic views and below for those with any tendencies to felling queasy on water. There is a delightful little snack back and loo on board, which also sells nice little souvenirs.

We had a marvellous trip out and informative tour round half the island by sea and then landed to walk the various paths to explore the place for three hours. It was JUST enough time to thoroughly meander through all the permitted areas of walking and viewpoints and also to go inside some of the buildings, including climbing the Green Lighthouse and learning all about the island’s history and Christian past, including hearing about and seeing the fantastic engineering feats of “the Lighthouse Stevensons”.

The best time to see the puffins is in June and July, before they all fly away. As I had never seen a puffin before and keep missing them on islands where they tend to hang out, I was delighted when the Captain announced that we would be releasing a baby “puffling” who had been nurtured to sufficient strength to take to the water for the first time. He was quite the centre of attention for all on board and seemed completely nonplussed, though very curious about our presence.

We thoroughly recommend this tour to you for historical, nature, birdwatching and architectural reasons. The tour was four and an half hours in total.

This is a Great Day out for all ages. Very friendly staff on the 1 hour trip to the beautiful May Island . Lots to see including the star of the show ...the puffins. Take comfortable shoes and binoculars to see all the birds on the cliffs and the cheeky seals bobbing on the water. I felt another half hour on the island would be nice as the 2 and a half hours just flew by.A good excuse to return Will definitely be back and recommend to friends.

In today’s fast-paced digital world, customer service and personal treatment all too often fall by the wayside. That is definitely NOT the case with Anstruther Pleasure Cruises.

My partner and I travelled down to Fife for the weekend to go on one of their landing trips to the Isle of May and hopefully spot some puffins. Unfortunately, severe weather affecting most of the UK meant the crew were forced to cancel our trip due to safety concerns. Alex from Anstruther Pleasure Cruises emailed everyone to break the bad news but I didn’t see the email straight away because we were driving. He then phoned and left me a voicemail - he was very keen to make sure I got the message in good time so I could avoid any unnecessary travel. We opted for a refund, which was processed very quickly.

The following day, we heard from Alex again, this time letting everyone from the cancelled trip know that two spaces had become available on the following day’s trip. Unfortunately someone beat us to it but it got us wondering whether there might be any ‘no shows’ the following day.

We spoke to a lovely lady at the company (her name may have been Carol- apologies if that’s incorrect) who said it does happen sometimes. We let Carol and Alex know we’d be along the following morning with our fingers crossed!

To cut a long, and agonising, story short, when the time came to set sail, three people hadn’t turned up so we got to go on the trip!

The weather was perfect, the water was calm, the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a relaxing and warm couple of hours on the island and, most importantly, saw lots of adorable puffins!

Our experience up to this point was enough to earn Alex and his colleagues a glowing review, however, our experience got even better. When we arrived back home I realised I didn’t have the fleece that I’d been wearing during the trip. I immediately contacted Alex who told me it hadn’t been found. However, a couple of days later Alex phoned me. They’d found my fleece- squashed behind a life jacket! He offered to post it back to me and it arrived safely a few days later. Despite me offering, he refused to accept any money for the postage.

A visit to the Isle of May would be an amazing experience anyway, but to do it with a company that clearly cares so much about its customers was the icing on the cake. Thank you Alex, Scott (who found fleece!) and colleagues for a wonderful trip and for going above and beyond for your customers.

Thank you Suz for the lengthy and excellent review. You did say you would give us a good one, but this exceeded our expectations. Think this is the longest and most detailed we have ever had, thanks again.
