My grandchildren loved it, but it looks a wee bit run down to me. Is the cause of there being fewer colourful butterflies just the time of year? Several features/cages were empty. No bees, no leaf-cutting ants, which used to be fun to watch. The children (and not a few parents) always love handling snakes, millipedes and spiders, and the... More

We visited for my Granddaughters birthday, she loved it! I was a bit concerned about the monitor lizard, the glass cage is a bit small and the lizard was stood up against the glass, rubbing it's face back and forth on the glass.. I am hoping that it isn't kept in that enclosure all the time? I think that the... More

This was my first visit Two great grannies, two grannies my two daughters and my grandaughter. There was something for everyone. We loved the butterflies but also the tortoise and for the first time in my life I held a spider and touched a snake. My grandaughter aged two also held the spider !!! Seeing the butterflies emerging from their... More

It was a bit of a let down we were in and out so quickly. Quite expensive for lack of time you can actually spend there once you've seen everything which over in a flash even taking in talks about insects. Tickets however ever are all day but feel once you've been in you've kinda done it. Staff were all... More

Visit enjoyed by two under fours. Fluffy the python is always a hit. No bees in bee section - time of year? Hope they will return later. Chickens rushing around were greeted with joy. There is a sign asking that children not play with books in shop. Fair enough. But it would help if books were higher up - ie... More

Went with the wife and young kids and were a little disappointed. Staff were friendly and educational but seemed overpriced for the length of time we were there. Don't know if it was maybe the time of day and missed the feeding and handling parts but we had finished with the place within a hour and that was spending 15... More

Visited on a cold wet Saturday in January. The good parts are that the centre has some interesting stuff (butterflies, reptiles and creepy crawlies). It seems to be largely kid friendly and should be ok if you rely on wheels for you or any of your party. There is loads of free parking and two animal handling sessions each day... More

We've visited Butterfly World a few times and there's always something new to see. It's also lovely and warm in n winter. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and the gift shop is full of lovely things. We highly recommend it for a great day out.
