    Amazing Sunday roast!
We visited Logie Steading for lunch after going for a walk around Randolph’s Leap nearby. Logie Steading is a beautiful, peaceful site and we really enjoyed looking around the lovely shops there (including a bookshop, farm shop, and gift shop) as well as having lunch in the cafe. There was live acoustic music in the cafe which created a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, even bringing us up a toy to keep my baby entertained. We chose to go for the Sunday roast which was exceptional. It honestly was the best roast we’ve eaten out and tasted as good as the photo looked. We got a huge portion including beef, red cabbage, green beans, potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and horseradish sauce. We really enjoyed our time there. You cannot beat great customer service and good food. We will definitely visit again!
thank you so much for your lovely review - we always love hearing what aspects of Logie Steading visitors particularly enjoy. thank you for writing so descriptively - and i hope you'll be back soon .... for more Longhorn beef - we have a special Farm to Fork week in the week running up to Easter. the chefs in The Cafe will be producing lots of special dishes to celebrate the fabulous beef that is produced on the estate .... right here!

    Want to go back
Lovely place, good for a look round the shops, they even have an old book shop. Books, that's what we used back in the day before phones! First time in the restaurant on this return visit. Excellent welcome, despite I suspect a tiring weekend lunch service for the staff. Nice cakes and beverages, we intend to have something more substantial the next visit if the timing is right. Being nosey and looking at what other customers were eating it looked good.
thank you for your great review - hope you'll be back again to sample even more of what the Steading has to offer!

    Perfect day
Certainly a place to visit. Lovely walks and independent shops selling art, books and other things. Have to book for the cafe or sit outside. The food was very tasty and well presented by waiting staff. The owners incredibly friendly
thank you so much for your lovely review. hope you'll be back again soon.

Worth a trip for a day out
Decided to visit here after joining historic houses and seeing it in their book Had a really lovely day. Took the family and dogs and enjoyed wandering around the gardens and shops. Much of the garden is accessible for a mobility scooter (£4 donation or free if HH member ) and all the shops are. We also had a picnic by the lovely outdoor playground which leads to more walks. It’s only £4. We were going to have coffee and cakes in the cafe but didn’t in the end as a bit of a queue but there’s always next time. Lovely staff everywhere by the way .
what a lovely review - thank you very much and i am so glad you enjoyed yourself. we are delighted that so many HHA members are coming to visit Logie Steading - and particularly the gardens.

    Gardens dense with variety
We were on a tour - and had lunch prepared for us -and it was delicious. It was a bit wet but walked out to the gardens with the owner. The gardens are dense and so beautiful. Hearing about all the additions of stream, rocks etc. is always interesting to a gardener (always changing!).

Best staff on a busy day.
Dropped by at the weekend for a coffee, we now have a loyalty card. The place was heaving, congratulations on a busy business. What struck us most was the staff, they did not put themselves first when moving about the establishment, it was customer before them. With plenty of "excuse me", "thank you" all done with smiles. When your busy and customers are getting in the way and inhibiting you doing your job it is hard. Well done the staff the five stars are for you.

We visited the steading for some shopping and lunch, and settled on some Cullen Skink as we had previously had this there and enjoyed it. This time however it was awful - I honestly think we were served with the stock from poaching the fish with some watercress and a roll. There was not one piece of fish or potato in the bowl, it was just smokey tasting milk - at £8.95 a serving it should have contained something. Terrible soup - I’d discourage anyone from visiting, shameful that this is being served!

Thank you for your review and i must apologise for such a slow response - i have discovered what happened. it was the chef's day off and there was a temporary chef on duty who failed to stir the put of soup so, as you rightly pointed out, all that went into your bowl was the liquid with none of the bits of veg and fish. most unsatisfactory and i know that Mags would like to give you a voucher for a revisit. please could you be in touch to panny@logie.co.uk so we can make a plan - many thanks

Notices at the shops state that face coverings are mandatory yet the woman in charge of the art gallery only sneakily puts her face covering on when she sees someone entering the gallery and the woman at Helligogs says she refuses to wear a face mask as she has been wearing one all day in her other job as a physiotherapist. Rules for them and different rules for customers. Totally unacceptable.

The gardens at Logie Steading are beautiful. There are a great variety of locally grown plants in a lovely setting- hills and glorious countryside as a backdrop. As there is a nursery on site it is possible to buy reliable and robust specimens of the plants. We purchased a very fine white Astilbe for our garden.

There are also good riverside walks and views to enjoy before heading off to the cafe/ restaurant for home cooking or home baking. Snacks can be enjoyed in the courtyard. A nice variety of shops are also worth looking at here.

We visited with friends for lunch, service disjointed with food and drinks arriving at different times, confusion about coffee and cakes ordered and finally being told when a missing cake arrived it had not been paid for, so please come to till and pay which our friends did, only to discover when checking their account they had actually paid for it!

A refund was made but very defensive and only apologised when it was pointed out that they had not even offered an apology.

Different staff from previous visits, not friendly and little in the way of understanding service. Perhaps new owners ?

We have visited here on a regular basis for 10 years or so and taken many friends here and never experienced any issues. I honestly will not return after today as I am so annoyed.

I do apologise for such a slow response - and even more so for the dreadful service you obviously encountered in the cafe. yes, new owners, and things have improved dramatically now that have really settled into the place. i do hope you'll be back, and i really do expect that you will find everything to be much better! thank you again - we always like hearing from our visitors, and especially when we need keeping up to the mark!

Absolutely loved this spot that we chanced upon on our way back from Culloden. Picturesque views all around, the river walk was wonderful with lots of wildlife everywhere. The café, bookshop and art shops were wonderful to wander around and I dare you to leave without making a purchase :)
Highly recommend a visit

I had three days fishing booked. Ewen great as usual. The cafe was great for lunch. The staff are friendly and helpful. There were nice meals, great cakes and the coffee is wonderful. Nice toilets too. The fishing hut is comfortable. The Findhorn river is extremely attractive. There are great pools. I thoroughly enjoyed the fishing but didn’t catch any salmon. I did see one fish. I have had 12 days of blanks over the past four years, and the other fisherman on the beat on two occasions also blanked. Overall the number of salmon caught on Scottish rivers has fallen, which seems to be an ongoing trend. Sadly it is becoming quite expensive to catch a salmon in the UK. I wonder if in the short term hatcheries may be an answer

ha, it sounds as if Ewen has been bending your ear!! keeping the ecosystem of a river in good heart is a complicated affair and much is being down at the moment to improve the upper reaches where the fish spawn. it appears that alot of fish go out to sea but the trouble is that fewer and fewer are returning to the river. no-one quite seems to know why and there is alot of research being down to be able to give a fuller picture. if only it was as simple as artificially putting more fish into the river using hatcheries! hope you have caught a fish somewhere now! the lack of snow in the hills is certainly not helping ... there are alot of factors at work

We visited whilst in the area on holiday based on the great reviews provided by others. We were incredibly lucky to visit on a warm sunny day. Lovely gift shops and cafe (lots of space/outdoor seating and a great lunch menu) Enjoyed a walk around the gardens and a short river walk (the long horned cattle were beautiful to photograph).

I LOVE Logie, but the shop and art gallery assistants need to wear masks. I didn’t go into the art shop because of it. There was no screen up either. The other shop the lovely lady put a mask on. And I bought things. It makes all the difference.

Fabulously photogenic, fairytale white house set in small, underwhelming, dull gardens (£4 entry!) House not accessible, wedding venue only. "Steading" which is a small collection of attractive outbuildings converted into shop units could be great but was deserted on a Wednesday mid morning in August, half the units are unoccupied & there is one café. The 3 shops open sell ridiculously overpriced chic tourist items (paid £40 for a tiny tartan hat & bootee set for my grandson). Heartbreaking to read reviews from 2019, 20 & 21 - Covid clearly hit this place like a sledgehammer. Really not worth going unless you are in the area and have spare time.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent visit to Logie Steading. Yes, one unit has been vacated by a business earlier this year, due to family reasons ... a new business will be moving in in the spring and, in the meantime, the space is being used intermittently for pop-up shops. I am mystified that you only found three shops - the Art Gallery, Book Shop, Hellygog Crafts, Timeless Fashion, Countryman Menswear, and the Farm & garden Shop are all open every day - as well as the cafe! Everyone's ideas of what makes an interesting garden differ - unusual shrubs, trees and perennials in a relaxed setting, tended with few chemicals, and not over-manicured is what the garden here is all about - i am so sorry you found that 'dull'!

Visited Logie Steading on a Sunday afternoon, four years after our last trip. We had a pleasant wander around for a couple of hours, the highlights being the bookshop, food shop and the cafe, which serves a tasty lunch in a bright, attractive environment. Special thanks to Gill for helping us out when we left our daughter’s jacket behind, really good service that other establishments could learn from.
