This place gave us pause for thought and thankful that this would not happen in this day and age. I will return with flowers.

Located off to the side of a motor road, the gravesite is nondescript and located in a open field. Its interesting to visit and the story a bit depressing. If you see it, stop and check it off your bucket list.

Before going to the grave a must is to read the story at the beginning of the path. It is amazing how this has lasted so long. The path is quite easy to follow and well worth a stop.

You'll pass this as it's on the main road so worth the few minutes stop off to read the story. Path is very wet (most of the time I'd guess) so good boots needed.

Sad story about this young woman and the history behind her life and her grave. Worth a visit if you are passing.

The grave of a young woman who committed suicide which, after being repeatedly dug up and moved is now marked by a simple headstone and interpretation board. In itself it is not very remarkable, but the story behind it is the attraction. It is indicated...More

Strange to see a grave of some poor girl who committed suicide over 200 years ago, but originally interred anonymously. Not much to see but a white gravestone and rickety white fence - but the story is certainly interesting, especially if you consider her body...More

When you have seen this grave it is hard to stop thinking about it. Thank goodness we have moved on and are more forgiving.

This grave is a small reminder of how tough life has been for women. Betty was apparently an unmarried young woman who became pregnant, was abandoned by her sailor lover, rejected by her community and driven to suicide. Her grave is lonely and echoes how...More
