Just home from a week's diving on board MV Invincible and what a week it was. A group of 5 of us from Ireland were greeted with warm sunshine, flat calm seas and 20m viz on the wrecks. Ian and Fiona were absolute legends, amazing hosts and Fiona's cooking was 1st class. The boat is the most spacious boat we have ever been on. We will definately be back again.

I had a super time on the MV Invincible. This is a liveaboard which does two dives a day and returns to its berth each day at about 3pm. The boat has everything a dive boat needs and nothing that it doesn't. The accommodation is compact and cosy with bunk beds. There is a basic help yourself brekkie provided and areas for us to store personal supplies of food and alcohol. Fiona made hot soup for us after the first dive and had a hot lunch waiting for us after the second.
The skipper Ian is extremely experienced both as a diver and a boat skipper, and provides an excellent service. The fills for air/nitrox are reasonably priced, and all the equipment is well maintained. No dive guides here, but good pre dive briefings before each dive.
Ian and Fiona are very hospitable hosts and went out of their way to help me when I had a dry suit issue.
Entry and exit is a piece of cake with a fabulous lift system and there is plenty of room on deck , and a great drying area in the bow area.
Coming from Australia I was a bit apprehensive about turning up on my own to dive the German High Seas Fleet wrecks, but soon made friends and really enjoyed the interesting diving.

MV Invincible is a superb base for a diving holiday. There is plenty of room for all your kit and even a dry area for changing out of wet kit. Berths are conpact and rudimentary with electrical outlets and a radiator in every room. We had a five day stay last week. Ian is a very expeirience skipper who will put you right over any of the wrecks that a suitable for your depth qualification. Fiona is a very compitent crew. Soup and a roll after our first dive of the day followed by a more substanial meal after the second dive. There are two toilets and showers on deck. Hot water is plentiful.

Amazing week of diving the Scapa Flow! Ian and Fiona are great hosts. The boat is very sensibly laid out and has the best dive lift I have ever used. Tons of space to kit up and a cosy saloon to socialise. Freshly cooked meals on board keep you warm and fuel the internal fires so you always ready for the next dive. Will definitely come back to MV Invincible! Thanks Ian and Fiona! (Croydon BSAC)

I've dived Scapa a few times now over the last 20 years and it's always been an adverture, especially if your with a group of friends from your dive club.

I am a repeat customer and really enjoy diving on board MV Invincible. Most importantly I find Ian and Fiona very friendly. There is loads of deck space helping make the diving very easy and relaxed. Fiona provides a hearty meal for lunch which I really enjoy. As ropes off is around 8AM it means we are back in Stromness about 3 PM leaving time to relax and explore. I look forward to returning in the future.

A great week diving off the Invincible. Ian is an excellent skipper and Gerry a very nice guy, very helpful at all times. However if you have read the TA reviews and are looking forward to Fiona’s wonderful Scottish breakfast awaiting you after your first dive you will be sorely disappointed, you won’t get one.
Response to pointing out that it is on their website, was that "it shouldn't be on there" and that the breakfasts stopped “years ago”.See the 2016 reviews on this site. The “Continental” breakfast was Co-Op cereal and toast. Soup between dives was nice when it was hot, lunch was at times inedible for some. This all cast a shadow over what was otherwise an excellent week of diving.
The boat needs some love - take a raincoat or umbrella into the heads, awash if it rains overnight. We did approach this amicably but were blanked after the food discussion which was unwarranted and immature. We won't re-book. Major improvements needed to compete with the other excellent dive boats working the Flow.

Great boat, lots of deck room for divers/kit, covered area for drysuit donning, decent bunks, showers and toilets – an excellent choice of boat to dive in scapa flow from. Skipper and mate were very good in dealing with one of our divers who surfaced with symptoms of a bend (missed stop/fast ascent….his own fault) – he was ambulanced on arrival at Stromness to the chamber, treated very quickly and made a full recovery.

But be aware the catering on this boat has changed from prior years and is not as advertised on the boats website (FAQs & Diving/Scapa). The food is poor and no sign of the advertised full Scottish breakfast. We booked the boat in May 2016 on the basis of info on the website and feedback from people in our club who had been on the boat a few years ago.

On discussing the catering with the skipper on day 3, we were met with denials re the website references to a cooked breakfast and that this had stopped several years ago – the latter we know is not true as tripadvisor makes ref to the now infamous breakfast as late as in April 2016. Upon seeing the wording on the boat’s webpage via my iphone with his own eyes, the skipper responded with ‘oh that shouldn’t be on there’. I even said I don’t expect the catering to change but thought you should know this. Thereafter everyone single one of our group were treated with the disdain becoming an 9 year old child who had been told off for the remaining 3 days on the boat – no good morning….not a single word unless pushed to for a dive time or can I have some nitrox pls…..

We are an experienced dive club with many UK liveaboards in the bag. We are not an unreasonable bunch of people and have realistic expectations…..UK dive boats are not gin palaces or have 5 star catering….they are generally fit for their purpose. An out of date website and poor food are one thing, but to be treated in such an immature and appalling manner is not at all acceptable and especially so when you are paying punters. Completely uncalled for and disappointing.

So if your planning on diving this boat – you will have a great diving base with good facilities, but take some provisions for the day and don’t expect a positive outcome should you want to give some feedback to the skipper……
