Paddy MacQuire is a very knowledgeable guide - what he doesn't know about Rousay isn't worth knowing. He met us off the ferry from Tingwall and got us back for the last ferry back to mainland. In between was an informative tour of the island visiting various historic monuments (Mine Howe burial chamber and broc being particularly interesting). He also... More

At first blush, Rousay may seem a quiet, remote island with few inhabitants. It is. But it is also a beautiful, interesting and even awe inspiring place filled with historical sites, wildlife and great people. It was one of those people, Patrick/Paddy Maguire who brought the island to life for us. Our day with him was one the true highlights... More

An ideal way to see the Island, Paddy provided lots of local interesting details both historical and current. The pace was leisurely with stops to take photos and admire the views. Picnic lunch very enjoyable and worth booking.

We spent four days in Orkney on Mainland, and I wanted to get the family "out and about" a little, so we booked a tour online sight unseen with Paddy McGuire. Our family group ranged in age from 89 to 22 -- grandmother, parents, adult children -- and so we piled into the ferry at Tingwall for the short ride... More

I was really keen to do a guided tour of Rousay, but there were no bookings for my possible days, and Patrick said he needed at least 2 people to make it worthwhile. However, he went out of his way to help and in the end I had a private tour of Rousay! Patrick couldn't have been more helpful and... More

We asked for a tour at very short notice and were very glad Paddy was able to take us round. With glorious views and stunning neolithic sites Rousay on a sunny morning is pretty special, but Paddy was a very well-informed and entertaining guide, giving us a real flavour of local life in addition to plenty of history and readily... I am so glad I came across Paddy's website. I have been to Orkney before and wanted to do something different this time and visit one of the islands. Not only did Paddy promptly respond to my enquiry, he was happy to take me around on my own for no extra cost. In the end we were joined by another... More

I wanted to add my glowing review of Patrick Maguire and his Rousay Tour. He was courteous, knowledgeable, flexible, and full of energy. We were the only two in the Renault van that day, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Lunch was delicious and lovingly packed (there was even a small lunch for "Grumps"!), and we also met his daughter... More

Being limited to only one day on Rousay we opted for this small tour (6) with Paddy. His breadth and depth of knowledge of the island is amazing ! From bird watching to archaeology to current affairs he made the day ! If we had made our own way around we would have visited the main historical sites but we... More

Had a fantastic day tour around this very interesting island. Paddy just knows so much(thanks Paddy) and makes the day fun. The folks we shared the mini bus knew so much too! The picnics also worth booking - the deluxe one especially yummy as was the Grimbister cheese. Before getting the ferry from Tingwall we popped in to Betty's Reading... More
