About
There really is something for everyone at Crieff Visitor Centre. A warm welcome, great food, space for the children to play, fantastic gifts, unique fashions and accessories, specialist homeware, viewing area for the Caithness Glass Factory, a Garden Centre packed with great ideas and plants, the Drovers exhibition and the Art Gallery and Antiques area. Located in the beautiful town of Crieff, surrounded by hills and countryside it’s perfect for exploring the area or perhaps enjoying a spot of retail therapy and great coffee with friends.•In the Garden & Plant Centre we have something for every garden and gardener, from shrubs and plants to tools, bird houses and ornaments and much more.•In our Gift shop and showrooms we sell beautiful gifts and souvenirs, fashions, outdoor clothing and accessories including jewellery, shoes and handbags. There’s also music and books as well as speciality whiskies and other Scottish Gifts. •This is home to the famous Caithness Glass where you can buy a range of quality glassware and paperweights and also view the craftsmen and women at work in the factory next door. You can even make your own paperweight!•Next door there is an excellent little Tartan Shop and Art Gallery and Antiques area for those interested in the finer things in life.•A visit to the centre would not be complete without stopping off at our Drover’s Restaurant where we serve fresh local produce cooked on the premises by our skilled chefs. Here you can enjoy the very best in Scottish cuisine from a simple cup of tea with one of our delicious homemade cakes to a full mouth-watering meal.•And finally there is the Drover’s Exhibition which follows the Lives and Times of the Highland Drovers - very relevant locally as the Crieff October Tryst (market) was the centre of the droving trade in the 18th and early 19th centuries.

- FionamacFrosterley, United Kingdom18 contributionsWorse than Average overpriced foodVery expensive for the lack of quality. Would call again for a coffee but definitely nothing more. We paid just over £51.00 for our meals 2 x fish and chips which was frozen fish that has been so over cooked it was rock hard, a scone which was so dry it was like dust and loaded fries that were a grease laden mess. Never mind live and learn.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 February 2024
- Alikat2Perth, United Kingdom136 contributionsCoffee and cakeIt’s a nice enough place well stocked with all the usual tourist gifts, the staff were friendly and informative. The toilets are clean but the food was the real treat. I bought a couple of choice gifts and went for a coffee the cake selection is fantastic and the coffee was well done too, would definitely stop by again just for a nibble and definitely recommend stopping off hereVisited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 May 2024

- Elaine CooteHelsby, United Kingdom136 contributionsShouldn’t a visitor centre make you feel warmly welcomed? This one doesn’t.My husband, parents and I called in. The only welcome was from the lady from the Woodland Trust. They have some lovely gifts - quite expensive - but no greeting from the lady at the counter. The restaurant was almost deserted. The woman behind the counter stood over the cakes with total impatience as we made our choices. Such an unfriendly approach. The cakes were average and my husband said his hot chocolate was one of the poorest he has ever been served. You will see that virtually all my reviews are 5 star - not this time.Visited December 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 December 2024

Visiting with young children ,We stopped to use toilet.Spotless toilets.
We also asked if hot food was possible at 4pm.Lovely lovely lady in the restaurant area advised we could (clear notice no hot food after 4pm)indeed get hot food,to accommodate little ones. There were some amazing looking scones also sponge 🍰 cake (if just looking for something small and fresh.)
We only asked as kids were hungry, but we were very grateful.
Lovely pot of jam purchased at gift shop.We can only genuinely say that the staff were lovely and welcoming. The place was spotless.
When in the area again we will return.
Very impressed overall.🍰

2nd visit to Crieff and thought we would try the glass painting. Really enjoyed our visit, great seeing the glass being made and we made some fabulous souvenirs to take home. Glass painting was trickier than we had imagined it to be but we enjoyed it both as children and adults! Didn't have time to try the cafe, but we may return to have another look at the fabulous shop and great antiques area plus sample a coffee! Thank you for a lovely memory making experience.

Recently visited during a short stay break in Crieff. The visiter centre is very good .we dined with friends for lunch and had the broccoli soup which was very good and reasonably priced. The centre also sells glasswear and we purchased nice whiskey glasses which were very well priced. Definitely worth a visit when in the area

My husband and I stopped here during our stay just outside Crieff for a few days, as we were looking forward to going to Caithness Glass and hopefully seeing the artistry in action. We did manage to go and watch the glass makers in their workshop which was a real treat, what a talent they have and getting to watch them create those works of art was really special.
However, sadly the rest of the place was a real disappointment. I appreciate times have been hard and so investment may be tough right now but the Caithness Shop was really untidy, disorganized and the beautiful Caithness Glass such as the works of art we had just witnessed being made by hand really weren't showcased in the way they should be to celebrate them (I have vast retail experience and own a gift shop so I'm not just judging as a customer) Tidiness costs nothing. What a shame really because this wonderful art should take centre stage in what could be a 'showroom' and that is not the case. There was also a random antiques section to the side which didn't seem to fit next to the Caithness Glass. I had intended to come home with a couple of pieces of Caithness Glass but really didn't feel compelled to buy anything.
The visitor centre cafe was dated (but per my earlier point about hard times, fair enough) but really lacked atmosphere and the staff seemed really disengaged. The food was decent and reasonably priced.
The gift shop didn't seem to sell a lot of Scottish gifts, a real mish-mash of things in random assemble, again a real shame as this place could be amazing.
I'm sorry for being critical but we were really disappointed with our visit. I hope the owners make some simple changes to at least make sure the place is tidy and something to energise and motivate the staff to present a better atmosphere for visiting tourists to encourage more spend and repeat business.

We apologise that you felt disappointed with your visit. As you mentioned in your review Covid has hit all businesses badly and having been locked down twice in the last two years the Visitor Centre is no exception.
We are glad that you did appreciate the glassmakers, we are lucky to have such skilled craftsmen on site.
Our antiques area is very popular with locals and visitors alike and as for our shop we like to support not just Scottish business but all things British! We stock sweets, jams, honeys, cakes and choclates all made in Britain as well as bags, candles, cards, jewellery and books.
We are surprised about your staff comments as we get such good feedback from many people.

Restaurant side was a little overpriced. Food was OK. The gift shop staff member was quite rude. We waited a while to be served whilst she finished cleaning. Then when she came to the til to serve she was unhappy that we only had notes and not change. When advised we didn't have anything smaller than the notes we had but that we could pay by card she started to tut and get very stroppy. Not somewhere I would consider visiting again.

If you have a couple of hours to spare take a trip here. It’s very interesting with a restaurant, shop and an antiques centre opposite. Lots of lovely things to buy. Glassware here is lovely.
The restaurant has a good selection of food, hot or cold with lots of comfortable seating. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. A great place to visit overall.

Particularly liked the Caithness paperweight shop several reduced items had to be bought! there were also some Dartington glass products at good prices. The car park outside was adequate including enough spaces for coach parties of which I suspect there are a lot visiting ,two when we were there. The toilets were clean. The cafe looked nice but was busy. There is a free drovers exhibition at the back which we found very interesting people seemed not to be visiting it even though it was well signposted off the gift shop. The gift shop has all the usual Scottish gift shop goods although some of their prices were less than other gift shops I have been in. There is also a plant shop but we did not visit it. We will visit again

Cannot fault staff here at all. Being critical, the Caithness glass factory items were pricey and not much choice in buying. Unfortunately not as Good as the long since shut Caithness glass factory shop just outside perth. Cafe on site seemed reasonably priced. Shop adjacent had small selection of items.

Antiques section looked quite interesting, Caithness Glass not operating while we were there, so can’t comment on that.
Otherwise, very, very disappointing- items for sale are obviously bulk-bought, probably from the Far East, and have no relevance to the local area. No sign of the Crystal glasses for which Crieff used to be well-known, and the only glasses on sale were labelled in big letters “Made in England”.
Cafe clean, not very attractive (total overkill of orange pine) but soup was good.
Really not a great advert for beautiful Perthshire, I’m afraid!

Dear Jay99, We found your review quite confusing. We are very proud to be the home of Caithness Glass in Crieff, Perthshire where all the paperweights you saw in the shop are made in our factory on site. There is a viewing gallery open Monday to Friday 9.00-4.00. Caithness Glass is a division of Dartington Crystal in Devon and we therefore sell a wonderful selection of crystal glassware all made in Devon. Royal Brierly is mouth blown and hand engraved in England. John Beswick is also a division of Dartington Crystal for which we have a great selection. Susan Calman on her programme Secret Scotland filmed at Caithness Glass and thought our Crieff, Perthshire outlet was a wee gem!

Met friends here for lunch, went very early so that we should have had most of the afternoon to explore the locality. Waited an hour for our food which then came piecemeal, we were a group of seven. Folk who came in after us were served before us. Food was not good, dry almost cold chips, def not freshly cooked, fish cooked so much it was hard as bullets, overcooked beef burger. Really poor and expensive. Do not eat here! Tourists will give Crieff a swerve if this is the best that the visitor centre can do. Extremely disappointing and I was embarrassed as a local for taking our guests there.
