We were traversing the countryside when we came through Dornoch. We immediately were drawn to the cathederal and it's delights. I am glad we wandered inside to enjoy this cathederal.

We went in the fall of 2011 while in Scotland on our honeymoon. It's a nice enough cathedral but I've seen more impressive ones both in Scotland and in Canada, but I have to say that checking out the dozen or more gargoyles along the...More

The cathedral is right in the centre of Dornoch and is well worth a visit. The building is constructed of the yellowish sandstone that is dominant in the area and the stained glass windows are fantastic.

superbly built by Gilbert and a place of worship for a 1000 years the windows and the general atmosphere make you appreciate that there might just be a God and the resident Minister convinces you with a cheeky smile too

Scotland is full of churches, cemeteries and castles. Some excellent, some old, some interesting, some historical and some a combination of all 4. Dornoch Cathedral has an interesting past but one of the most quirky facts is that one of the tombstones was used during...More

We were staying locally and decided to visit this Cathedral where Madonna got married. The stained glass windows are amazing. There are brochures in multiple languages for visitors which is a nice touch.

What a gem! The Dornoch Cathedral is a t-shaped cathedral that had been rebuilt and modified several times. However, each time, the original flavor was maintained. Due to renovations, you can see the original stone pillars, as they were left exposed due to the history....More

Popped in during a visit to Dornoch. Opted to wait until the wedding party had left. Lol. Amazing stained glass windows with a clear mix of old and more modern designs view. X

The cathedral is rather average but check out the graveyard! It contains an authentic plaiden Ell, a for of measurement for cloth during the medical markets that were held there.

Hi there - yes, there are services at 11:00am on Sunday mornings. The cathedral is a fully operational church, part of the Church of Scotland. I attended a wedding there (fabulous location), and the female minister is a hoot!
