- Vince HSkelton-in-Cleveland, United Kingdom528 contributionsA relaxing and gentle walkDespite a minor issue with parking (the car park is very limited on space), we managed to acquire a spot as somebody left just as we came in. The walk through the woods alongside the river was most enjoyable with a fairly good path to walk on. There were a few gentle inclines on the route but didn't pose any problems. Good footwear is recommended as the path could become slippery in wet conditions. The main waterfall at the end of the walk was spectacular and well worth the 30-minute hike. Numerous photo opportunities arose along the way and the ambient sound of flowing water gave a relaxing backdrop to soak up the atmosphere. The walk is very good for dog walkers. The first smaller water fall was a particular delight for three Dobermans who decided to have a Timotei moment. The owners struggled to get them out as they were enjoying themselves so much.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 May 2024
- FussyBvggerBritAmersham, United Kingdom400 contributionsSuperb in MayA real hidden gem. Lovely gentle woodland walk by the Big Burn. Depending on loitering for photos etc it takes around +/- 20 mins each way by the Burn, and culminates in a spectacular waterfall. In May the amazing carpets of bluebells and wild garlic are out in force. A lovely way to spend an hour.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 May 2024
- Paul BChirnside Park, Australia1,134 contributionsAmazing falls especially after rainWe parked in the upper car park (backies) and still enjoyed a small walk away from the Falls the small bridges. We also walked to the Falls and then above and around. Magnificent little gem of a walk.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 June 2024
- JCW703Jerusalem District, Israel3,169 contributionsCould Use Some AttentionParked in the upper lot and hiked / walked down. The trailer could definitely use some attention as there was a fallen tree in one spot and substantial mud in others. There is also some incline, going down and then coming back up. The falls are nice as is the boardwalk that leads to them and makes the hike worth it.Visited September 2024Travelled soloWritten 16 September 2024

This is a lovely walk and great scenery but unfortunately some of the bridges and loose low railings need looked at.
For some reason some of the planks on a bridge were set top to bottom and had gaps big enough for my dogs legs to fall through. We had to go very carefully and slowly in spots. Then at one point she went ahead by a couple of steps before I could stop her and her paw and leg went through a gap between some wooden steps. She could have broken a leg but instead scrapped some skin off. Still required some first aid and has a nasty gash. She isn’t a small dog but as a greyhound she does have slim paws and legs.
There was also a bridge across a big drop that had big gaps at the sides, big enough for a small child to fall through. I had my, by now injured dog, on a VERY tight leash to make sure she was OK.
If you’re taking your dog and small children just be aware and look out for these spots.

While the Dunrobin castle is a big draw, this is the hidden gem in Golspie. The car park near the old mill was closed, so we drove up further to other one further upstream. This cut out a lot of the effort and walking and got us almost directly to the bridge overlooking the gorge and falls. A very beautiful visit !

Great easy trail in Golspie. About 1 mile walk to falls with beautiful scenery throughout walk. We stayed at the Golspie Inn and the trail head was in their parking lot - very convenient. Trail is not difficult. My 69 year old father was able to complete without issue.

I’m glad that we took the opportunity to explore the area. What a beautiful walk to the falls. The ground was mostly covered with wild garlic & British bluebells. The sound of the river flowing down was so therapeutic.
A bit steep in some areas but worth the climb. Such a beautiful way to exercise as well as enjoy the scenery.

What a lovely treasure of a walk! We were a little too early for our visit to Dunrobin Castle, and were looking for a way to pass some time...this was brilliant! The falls are charming, as are the several bridges over the stream. The density of the local forest makes it seem you are miles away from town, when you are actually quite close.

Visited on a walk which combined a climb up Ben Bhraggie with a return via Big Burn. An all round great walk but the section visiting the waterfall was our favourite. It made a nice change for all of the bridges to be in beautiful condition too!

Stumbled across this place by driving past and decided to stop for a walk.
What we thought was 'Big Burn Walk' as just a name turned out to be quite a big walk over many bridges and alongside a long river and featuring more than one waterfall. Really quite beautiful.
People with walking difficulties be aware this is not a normal walk.

A great little walk forest walk that is easy to follow down to the beautiful waterfalls. We found this through a trip advisor search of what to do in the area and we are really pleased that we did the walk. Parking is limited but we managed to park and had a lovely time.
