This road gives a much better view over Loch Ness than the main A82 on the opposite side. Make sure you take the road through Foyers rather than the better one which bypasses it. The bends in the road with passing places mean that it...More

Views are breathtaking. We visited in snowy December so the roads were not at their best. This in itself enhanced the experience. The views across the snowy landscape were amazing. If you do not think that we humans are just specks on this earth then...More

Just another great place to drive while in Scotland. Beautiful scenery and like most roads very narrow.

We visited the military roads whilst staying in Loch Ness. The road to the summit is mind boggling steep but well worth the trip. We travelled on the road three times in the four days we stayed at Loch Ness. We would go out of...More

We took the road from Inverness to Fort Augustus and really enjoyed it. We saw several deers within the beautiful landscape and as always sheep that were running free so drive attentivly, it's worth it!

The visit to the Old Military Road and surroundings gives the opportunity to admire Loch Ness from above, and also takes you through the most beautiful (planted) pine forest.

We used this road to traverse the South Side of Loch Ness and we loved it. It got pretty steep at some points - we were heading away from Fort Augustus - I have a lot of admiration for the many cyclists we saw. The...More

Cycling into the wind heading towards Fort Augustus from Inverness, the views we had were outstanding, although long and straight at one particular point (practical for a military road) and becoming tedious, due to being able to see the climb and feel the pain! I'm...More

Absolutely. I am not a biker but the road is infinitely more suited to motorcycles than cars in a lot of places. The road is mostly single track with passing places so care is needed at most times. Hope this helps.
