Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's free to enter and a great way to spend a quarter of an hour. The church is old and it's in pretty good condition right now.

Beautiful and well taken care of. Amazing first visit. Such friendly people in the area too. I had a wander while the rest of my group played on the beach and it was wonderful to see the carvings and work. The church was lovely to have a walk in and so much local history

This is dignified and just a lovely place to go and look round. The graveyard is very interesting just reading the headstones is very interesting.

This picturesque ramble starts by the shoreline, works past the church, with commanding views right and left to two Firths. Ignore the oil rigs. It slowly winds up hill, past a Neolithic rock hunting ground and pushes upwards quite steeply to reach a viewpoint, with one seat. Take sometime here to admire the view and look for dolphins, because this is the best viewpoint on the walk. There’s absolutely no view when you reach the small car park at the top!

It's a quiet, dusty sort of place full of a smell of age and a suggestion of damp and is absolutely captivating. I love the sense of a building that really belonged to that community and the feet that wore the floorboards smooth and the hands that rounded the edges of the pews. There are fascinating touches in painted panels and left-over armourial designs...fragments now, relics of the spectacle they once offered.

Really worth a visit. Take time to sit, downstairs and upstairs, get a sense of the place and the peace it still holds

This church when it was decided not to be used as the Parish Church was taken over and is maintained by Scottish Redundant Churches Trust, now Historic Churches Scotland. After visiting many churches over many years, we have never found another church anything like it at all; it is breath-taking in its uniqueness. It has to be seen to be appreciated and from a personal point of view it is wonderful that it is so loved and cared for by all concerned.

Beautiful building. I’ve never seen a church built like this one. We enjoy looking round graveyards and trying to find the oldest one, so this one was perfect!

Fascinating restoration of this historic church building - giving a real sense of history and place. Not difficult to conjour up images of the minister in the pulpit and the congregation in the pews. The historic grave yards creates a real sense of the place and people of Cromarty too.

We went to Cromarty to look for Dolphins and decided to walk around. We came across this church and decided to look in as it was open. Now cared for by theScottish Reduntant Churches Trust and has Heritage Lottery Funded. On first seeing the church it does not look architecturely beautiful but inside it is full of interest. There are pamphlets which are inside and information boards to guide you. It is well worth a visit and would be interesting for children as well. Even in the graveyard there is information about particular gravestones - changing styles of writing over several hundred years. Graves date back to the 1700s. It brings home infant mortality. I am not religious but I found this church particularly different , hence the review.
