Left A Nasty Taste
Sep 2021
Stopped at Glenmorangie for a visit to the shop as a friend I was travelling with wanted to buy a present for her husband's special birthday. The distillery was well sign-posted and there is plenty of car parking. The distillery buildings are lovely and I would have liked to have seen more of them but there were no tours due to COVID-19 restrictions. The shop is large and well stocked but very corporate without the range of lovely local artisan products we found for sale in the Dunnet Bay Distillery shop. The staff were pleasant but not as welcoming or friendly as the staff at the other two distilleries we visited on our North Highland adventure. My friend asked the advice of the shop assistant who was nice enough but not overly helpful or engaged since my friend didn't have a lot of money to spend. We noticed that when people came into the shop 'flashing the cash' that customer service ramped up and the shop assistants became much more engaged and helpful which left a nasty taste especially given how the staff at Clynelish and Dunnet Bay distilleries treated everyone the same and were friendly, keen to share their knowledge about the best places to eat and visit in the area and welcoming to everyone even if they only purchased a £4.50 miniature.

Super good fun

I’ve seen quite a few distilleries and Glenmorangie was fab. Plenty choice, interesting releases that I’ve not seen elsewhere. Would love to go back and buy more!

Not worth the effort
Aug 2021
Covid-19 prevented a tour of the distillery so it was the tasting option only: 3 very small measures of their most popular whiskeys and an informative but brief verbal description of how it’s made…but why no video or slide show to add greater interest. There were 10 of us; we sniffed each offering, had a taste and that’s about it. As a regular buyer of this whisky I was very disappointed that the minimum amount of effort was made to make me feel welcome. The distillery makes millions surely it’s time to reinvest in promoting its products. We came a great distance to be here, it was a deeply disappointing 20 minutes. Not worth the trip unless you need to buy a bottle.

Great whiskey
Jun 2021 • Couples
We came here to buy gifts for friends. The staff are very nice and friendly and it actually isn’t a rip off I tried a shot of the signet which was £10 in the shop. In Inverness in a whiskey bar they were charging £25 a shot.
Unfortunately there are currently no tours due to covid

Great distillery with good selection of whisky.
Jun 2021
We popped in while on the NC500 route as a planned stop. The distillery grounds are well presented and there are still tours and tastings taking place, although limited and under Covid requirements. We had a look around the shop, which is very good and were able to select some whisky for tasting on our own in a separate room. There is a good selection of whisky and the staff were welcoming and helpful.

Visit to shop
May 2021 • Family
Great visit to the distillery shop. Spoilt for choice and seems a very popular stop off.
Did not book a tour, however these did seem very popular.
Liking the connection/support for giraffes and the current paint work on the buildings is fantastic.

Good shop and selection of whiskies.
Jun 2021 • Couples
Visited the shop last Saturday . Rachael was very pleasant knowledgeable and helpful. Great selection of whiskies in nice bright surroundings. I have started the Glenmorangie 14 year old Quinta Ruban which I am enjoying very much. Well worth a visit.

Great little day out, we did the classic tasting- good value for money and Finn who was running the tasting was lovely, friendly and informative. The grounds are very pretty too. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area!

So much whisky !
May 2021 • Couples
Stopped her when passing by, no tours were running so just wandered around the shop. Friendly staff and magazine spotless loos. I should imagine a tour would be good but I’m not a massive whisky drinker and surely one tour is similar to another ?

I booked as I went during the busy season and I wanted a specific time, if you are happy to take a chance then go for it but prepare for a wait if going during July/August.

Has the Quinta Ruban been discontinued?
Or is 'Duthac' produced in addition to Quinta Ruban or Lasanta.

They described the Quintana Ruban as part of their normal line today. They do have special bottling. I think Duthac is one of those.
