Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Right from the start with my enquiry, Shetland Wildlife was always quick to reply and to give advice. The pre holiday information excellently prepared us for our holiday and made me even more eager to go. Hugh met us at the airport and we were quickly ensconced in our hotel.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and adapted our schedule, as and when necessary so that we would gain the most from our visit.
It was a truly wonderful experience and I immediately booked for another holiday with Shetland Wildlife but on different islands.

A lovely introduction to Shetland and its wildlife. The guide David was very knowledgeable and very good at imparting his knowledge. He knew the islands very well and varied the programme to take best account of the weather. The hotels were good, especially St Magnus bay which I would love to visit again. I would recommend this tour and this company.

Designed for the wildlife enthusiast, this trip makes close to maximum use of the available time. Our guide (and minibus driver) Dave was knowledgeable and adaptable, changing arrangements at short notice so that we could see Orcas. He was also adept at spotting Otters. The hotels were comfortable, and meals of a good standard. Apart from the Orcas, highlights were great views of Arctic Skuas, Great Skuas, Gannets, auks and a Golden Plover. We also got to see some unusual flora.

A really well organised and run Ultimate Shetland wildlife trip under the guidance of the genial Dave Fairhurst. I’m not a birder or a photographer but I had a fantastic experience touring Shetland with a highly knowledgeable and observant guide. Yes the Orca were the highlight but watching puffins at Sumburgh & Hermaness, spotting otters across the islands and mountain hare was superb. As was the midnight trip to Mousa to view the stunning Broch and watch/hear the stunning Storm Petrels coming in to roost. Dave was great company as well as a brilliant guide, his enthusiasm definitely rubbed off on me, consequently I’m now walking around Aberdeenshire with a different perspective.
NOTE:- I chose to take the ferry from Aberdeen as part of the experience, I wouldn’t recommend booking a pod unless you can sleep on a reclining chair!

We enjoyed a fabulous week on the Ultimate Shetland tour in June. It was our first visit to Shetland and everything about the trip more than lived up to our hopes and expectations. The wildlife was amazing and our guide, Dave, was great fun and very knowledgeable about all the birds, cetaceans and flowers we saw. So many highlights, but the Storm-petrels at Mousa, the boat trip with all the Gannets and the Orcas close in to shore on our final morning stand out.

Thoroughly enjoyed our week with Shetland Wildlife. Our guide, Mick, went out of his way to find sightings for us. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you, Mick!

Brilliant guide with uncanny ability to spot and identify wildlife, making sure all the group saw everything. Read the group well and helped us gel. Preplanning and information clear and helpful and daily planning excellent. A fun week seeing all we hoped for and more.

The week was absolutely amazing from start to finish and I can honestly say that I have nothing but good things to say about the tour. Mick, was a fantastic guide. He was very approachable, knowledgeable & I learnt a lot from him during the week. One of the impressive things was the way that he and Hugh worked during the week, throughout the days, to make sure that we got the best opportunities to see the wildlife that we were hoping to see and also some unexpected visitors.

We took the Mull Island tour; it was our third birding trip with Shetland Wildlife. They were all wonderful. Mull Island was a small group--just 8--and we got to know each other, sharing excursions and meals throughout the week. This was our 3rd time with David as the guide. He is such an expert on birds; he can recognize them while flying, singing, and nesting and he shares his tips with the travelers. He also took special care of me because for me there were some challenging walks and climbs. He encouraged me and wouldn't let me give up until I had made it to see the nesting puffins. The booking was painless and the office answered all questions.

Hi - thanks for your message. We don't run dedicated whale-watching trips as such but can arrange 3hr trips to the seabird cliffs at Noss. Whales and dolphins are occasionally seen from these trips. Please also indicate which month your question relates to. Thanks!

We are planning a Scotland vacation in May 2016. Are these tours available and worthwhile to go on in May?
Thank You
