Beautifully sited war memorial
Jul 2021
This is an attractive war memorial and it is particularly beautifully sited looking out over the South Beach.

Impressive monument
May 2021 • Family
This is an impressive monument which depicts Britannia standing on chains and holding a trident and palm and Ian dedicated to the world wars.
It sits at troon seafront and is surrounded by a large seating area where you can sit and pay your respects.
It is a very impressive memorial, definitely worth a look!

A striking Monument
Sep 2020
The Troon war memorial is a striking monument right on the beach front on the Esplanade. It is quite rightly kept in good repair.

Britannia gives thanks to Troon
Jul 2020
This monument is a war memorial to the men of Troon who gave their lives in the two world wars. It looks like the original monument was for WWI, while a love memorial wall was created behind the first monument, for WWII. The main feature of the memorial is an allegorical figure of female Britannia standing on a tapered square column, the latter engraved with the names The bronze sculpture of Britannia depicts her holding an olive branch in her extended right hand, while her left holds a globe surmounted by a sculpture, a personification of Victory. This is a beautiful monument, while the bronze sculpture is of the highest craftsmanship.

A well placed memorial
Jun 2019 • Couples
When walking along the prom, it is a wonderful reminder of the people who lost there lives fighting for our country.. It can be seen from a distance and there are plenty of benches around to have a peaceful seat.

Always moves me, especially on this the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings. Britannia looks out to sea, asking us to remember those who lost their lives out there. Look for the tiny figure she holds out in her left hand, a Victory or Nike. (Or angel, if you prefer.) The sculptor did several similar war memorials but they all differ by what Britannia holds in her left hand.

Very different and unique memorial
Sep 2018 • Couples
Quite a nice memorial and well worth stopping by. Thought provoking and unusual. Makes one think of 100 years ago. There are benches which have the names from WWI inscribed, and the WWI names are on the monument itself.. Easy walk from town.

An attractive memorial in a nice location.
Aug 2018 • Couples
The war memorial in Troon is both impressive and attractive and is a fine tribute to those who gave their lives in the wars. The fact that it is in an attractive location and provides seating for passing visitors are added bonuses.
