We just popped by for a quick dip in the sea with our kayak and we had great fun despite the wind. Great waves and people kite surfing. Clean beach and toilets near by.

Beautiful sandy beach with a view over to the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig. Busy with dog walkers and even a couple of horses. Little ones will love to dig holes and build castles. Kite surfers will love it on a windy day. Thanks to the Friends of Troon beaches group of volunteers who help to keep the rubbish on the beach to a minimum with regular beach cleans. Do them a favour and take your rubbish home.

The town of Troon has a lovely well kept and clean crescent shaped beach. Troon is one of the best of a string of south west coastal Scottish towns. Like most of them it is compact and easy to walk around. Its main thoroughfare is centred around South Portland St.where there are a few nice restaurants ,the best being the trendy Lido. For pub scene there is the marvellous 'Harbour Bar' on Templehill near the old harbour to name but one of many. Troon and its huge beach are only a 45 min pleasant train ride away from Glasgow Central Station.

beautiful views and alright beach but i’ve never felt more unwelcome somewhere in my entire life. I visited the beach with my flat mates from glasgow and we were watched intently by older people the entire time we were here, to the point we waved back. people even making comments about how we weren’t “socially distancing” despite the fact we live together... A woman even stopped us and told us that “a gang were coming to get us” because we were sitting together and not social distancing (we live together so that seems unnecessary). Then, as we were swimming they took photos of us for “evidence” (we heard them say this), there is absolutely no need for this kind of hostility from a whole town. will not be visiting again and i advise no one under the age of 60 does.

The beach front area really could do with being smartened up a bit. Looks rather run down and in need of a bit of TLC. Plenty of free parking in the area.
